Enjoy high school, have fun, and do well. There is nothing that you can really do in high school to help you out besides doing well on the ACT/SAT and getting good grades.
And yes going to a state school will not hurt you in anyway when pursuing your prerequisites for medical school.
The pre-reqs generally are:
1 Year Physical (General) Chemistry
1 Year Organic Chemistry
1 Year Calculus
1 Year Biology
1 Year Physics
1 Semester Biochemistry
(Some schools vary; ie some want genetics, cell biology, statistics, etc..)
Now once you do get to college just meet with a pre-health advisor (most larger schools have them) and they will help you get on the right track.
You also do not have to be a Biology/Chemistry or some other hard science major, its just that most are. Just as long as you do all the required courses and take the MCAT you are eligible to apply. I have seen people apply with Philosophy, Psychology, and even Economics degrees.
Also the MCAT should be taken before June of the summer before your senior year in order to apply to the cycle that will begin after your Junior year. If you want to get in you should apply when the application process opens which is June 1st.
And you do not need a bachelors degree to apply to medical school, its just most people do have one when they do. But some very smart people go through all of the pre-reqs in their first 2 years of college and do amazing on the MCAT and get accepted to medical school at 20 years old. Many other people applying also have Masters and even PhD's (but of course they are much older).

Med schools don't look at your high school courses, so it doesn't matter, except that you'd want all the science and math foundation you can get. You'll want to get into a good college, get at least a 3.5 GPA, score well on your MCATs, have great recommendations, and, hopefully, have some relevant paid or volunteer experience when you apply to med school after earning your Bachelor's degree.

You will have to go to a regular 4 year college/university and complete a pre-med, chemistry, or biology degree.
Once you graduate with your bachelor's in one of these, you can attend med school. In college, you will be given an advisor that will help you with this goal along the way. So, ou will not feel so confused about the process of getting into med school.
You will need to maintain a HIGH GPA in college and score well on the test for entry into med scool. There are test prep courses you can take in college for this exam. You should do VERY well in all of your science and math classes in high school and college.
Good luck in reaching you dream!

There are many websites that explain the courses that medical schools require for entrance. Do a simple web search. Your major doesn't matter--good grades, involvement in activities, and these required courses are what they look at when they interview. Make sure you join organizations, do volunteer work, and such. You will need things like higher math, chemistry, and such.
Find a college with a "pre-med" program--you can do this with a simple web search also. They will walk you through what you need to get accepted, and help you with the process. If you have a choice of schools, ask what their medical school acceptance rate is.

In order to be eligible to apply to med school you need a 4-year Bachelor's degree already, so you'll need to do more than just "take basic classes" at a state college. You need to go to the best school possible and major in a science (biology or chemistry), then take the MCATs and apply the fall of your senior year in college. You need to maintain at least an A- average to have any hopes of getting into a med school. Good luck.

Talk to an academic adviser at your college they will tell you exactly what to take for premed. I was going to be premed but decided to switch.
