what does a forward primer and a reverse primer do?

    Forward primer initiate the elongation of the DNA strand from 5' end to 3' end, when reverse primer initiate the elongation of the DNA strand from 3' end to 5' end by connecting the dNTPs.

    It all happen on polymerization/elongation cycle on PCR with the specific temperature.
