What is your problem atheists?
To all of you atheists that are constantly bashing religion on Yahoo Answers... wtf?
Why do you hate christianity so much? People spend 1 hour of their week devoted completely to god and spend the rest of it trying to be kind and forgiving to others (if they are good christians). What's so terrible about that?
I mean, some christians can be equally as mean and annoying, but still why just blatantly victimize christians in general?
Well, laptop...watever, you now know one.
(To clarify I was talking about the atheists who bash religion on this site, not just atheists in general)
I am simply saying that some of you will just simply post questions denouncing god and mocking christians just for the heck of it.
"Returning violence for violence multiplies violence,
adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid
of stars." -Martin Luther King Jr.
By posting such questions you are simply increasing strife between two sides of an already heated argument.
Responding to Question 36 by "eric":
This is what I mean by religion bashing atheists. I have nothing against you eric, yet I feel now you are calling everything that I know false just out of spite towards other christians. I am simply begging for some peace around here. I assure you that the world is full of tolerant christians and I happen to be one of them.

✞ The reason that we see this happening is because the word of God is sharper than a two edged sword and cuts to the heart of man...Even the name of Jesus sheds light upon the darkness of a persons heart..For the non believer this is uncomfortable and causes them to become angry and even lash out...Plain and simple it is conviction....

Hey man, I happen to love Christians. Why are you assuming that just because I'm an Atheist that I'm bashing on those who believe in God? I ask serious questions, I try to be polite and I answer seriously. I have also never said that it was terrible to be so devoted to something that you believe in, in fact it is a commendable trait. I do not victimize anyone. Do you not see a problem with what you are doing right now? You are victimizing Atheists, doing the same thing you are ranting about. I have absolutely no problem with anybody who believes in God, and I personally wish them all luck, you too.

Because no one has ever produced evidence of the existence of a god, nor has anyone evolved a strong enough argument to legitimize the idea of god. Faith is not a virtue, it is believing something that you cannot substantiate, thereby willingly subscribing to a delusion. This would not be more than an annoyance if religion did not shoehorn its way into people's lives through government/law, education, illegitimate moral definitions, bigotry, and violence.
Religion provides people a context where they can justify almost anything through "god's will." It is a bulwark against human intellectual and scientific progress.
To answer your question, people bash religion on yahoo answers and elsewhere because for too long it has been a social taboo to speak out against religion for fear of offending others. People are realizing that the ill consequences of religion are too grave to disregard in favor of political correctness. It does not matter if you and others are offended. Religion is not sacred.

I don't like these "Christians" who spend an hour a week in church and then the rest of the week trying to force others to be the way they wish they were. Show me a christian how is actually good, kind, etc. Perhaps they are out there, but I have never met one. I also question someone who claims to be a good christian but only spends only an hour a week completely devoted to god. There are monasteries out there. Perhaps if you are so holy you should seek one out, or is the world a bit more important to you than god is?

Just as people like you have some sense of decency and responsibility, do do most Atheists. Frankly I'm getting tired of it too, and all the idiotic Atheists who call you an idiot give Atheists like me a bad name. I think it's great that you take the time to live by the bible, it's a very straight-forward, positive way of living. In my opinion, the problem with religion is that the story is constantly changing, and people are constantly buying into something that was previously not related, and is continually unprovable. I am thinking about converting from Atheism to FLuffeeism.

Like I said to another user. Its not just the atheist that hates christianity its the pagans satanist and alot of other people. Pagans should actually be the ones to really have extreme hatred towards christianity because most of the christians concepts are stolen from paganism. Paganism has been around LONG before christianity has been around and later on down the road....Pagans were killed for practicing something they always practice. It all started with one person saying pagans are witch's.... why? Cause all of their concepts were turned around by christians to make EVERYTHING evil! So do some research please before you post anything.

The big problem is the extent to which Christianity especially, and religion more generally, compromises the ability to think rationally and examine facts objectively. Then there is the proselytizing, which makes parents fear their children may be brainwashed. There's the extent to which religion distorts the law and social policy. And moral education tends to rely on authority rather than learning moral judgment.
Morality is doing what is right, no matter what you are told.
Religion is doing what you are told, no matter what is right.

Have you received death threats? Have you had things thrown at you? Have you been called names? Shunned because of something that shouldn't matter? If so, were these things done in the name of God?
When people believe that they are doing God's work by hating on you, your family or your friends, you learn that Christianity is mostly just used as a means of masking their own inner hatred.
I do like the nice Christians, though.

These answers are unbelievable, there is so much bitterness. If these are the only Christians you atheists see then you must be looking for these kind of Christians and assuming all of us are hate mongers. If a Christian acts the way you are describing, then they are not obeying the commands of Christ, and are indeed false Christians or even antichrists.

People spend 1 hour of the week comparing clothes. Do you really think Jesus would be okay with you all dressing so formal in pure vanity?
The rest of the week you spend cherrypicking verses in the bible to judge others.
My problem with christianity is that all these things have been done in the name of christianity (i have problems with all religions by the way), and these are all things that are encouraged in the bible:
- Slavery
- genocide to people who won't convert to christianity
- treating women like lesser citizens
- discriminating against gays
- hindering progress of society (dark ages)
- fighting against scientific progress, because a book of made up stories disagree

I have no problem with people's personal beliefs. I'm offering a critical review of a belief system based on absolutely no evidence at all, that has the audacity to condemn and command people on how to live their lives. All of which is based off of an ancient text that really shouldn't be taken literally or even seriously in a modern age like ours.
