Dell is very good. Don't get an alienware they are a big waste of money. If you are going to be video editing or anything like that you will need a i5 or even better i7. 4 ram is the minimal amount now of days. To be honest if you want real power don't get a laptop, get a desktop. But if you need a laptop get one with the i5 and anything more then 4Gb of ram. Your hard disk or hard drive is not really a problem because that is the easiest thing to replace or add on. So to conclude I think a i5 with 8Gb of ram and 320Gb hard drive. This will be a little expensive if you get it with a laptop, desktops are cheaper then laptops!!!!

if you really need good software for creating music, pictures etc. and you can afford a $2000 comp then buy a mac other than that it's a total ripoff

dells are not good computers, they dont have alot to offer and are way over priced for what you get

so i suggest not to buy a dell

i recently thought this computer was really good

    it's an msi A5000-226

Core 2 Duo laptop with a Blu-ray drive. Features include an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz dual-core processor, 16" 1366x768 widescreen LCD, 4GB RAM, 320GB rpm hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 8200M-G video, Blu-ray reader/DVD burner, 802.11n wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, memory card reader, 6-cell battery, HDMI output, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

    $500 or $600 u.s dollars

I'd say PC now and laptop later. PC lasts a whole lot longer than laptops and they run better as well and don't overheat as fast. If you want something to carry around to do some work on thant get a netbook.

I would recommend this ASUS laptop from best buy.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+with+Int...

If you don't like it I would go with alienware there high performance laptops but a little over priced.
