The New Testament first (especially The Gospels) along with a Proverb a day and Five Psalms a day. After you are done with The New Testament, go to The Old. If you start with The Old Testament, you will bog down at about Leviticus. Choose a version that you can understand. Personally, I love The Amplified. 2 Timothy 2 (Amplified Bible)

15Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

There are many ways. I don't recommend front to back because some early parts are tedious and culturally confusing.

Read each Gospel starting at the arrest of Jesus and continue until his death. Read the suffering servant poem in Isaiah. Read Exodus. Read the parables of Jesus. Read the sermon on the mount in the Gospels in which it appears. Read the entire Gospel of Luke and then Acts of the Apostles.

Talk with friends about what you have read, ask questions, attend Bible study. Reread or read what is recommended to you.

To find out where and which Gospels the parables are, use a concordance or a google search.

Anyone new to Christianity or the Bible should first read about Jesus Christ in the 4 Gospel book accounts (meaning Good News) . Each book looks at Jesus from a different angle.

Also The Acts of the Apostles. This deals with the birth of the Christian Church after the resurrected Jesus, seen by thousands, was taken back up to heaven to be with God. The Holy Spirit descended like tongues of flame on the quietly waiting and praying believers. They were filled with super heavenly Joy and Power to preach with transforming healing power and also with 'signs and wonders' - these not often seen in Western churches today. This is a fascinating book of stories to read.

How God is portrayed in the Old Testament seems to depict him as a cruel and vengeful God, but we do not realise how cruel were the nations living alongside the children of Israel (God's chosen race, formed and moulded by God to become the culture and nationality of Jesus the Saviour of the world).

The heathen gods that neighbouring nations worshipped in those ancient days had the most vile, cruel and barbarous practices so God had to destroy them completely as pollutants of the human race and as possible corruptors of the Israel nation.

Definitely start in the New Testament. To start at Genesis and work through is a bad approach (for someone new at least). Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are full of lists and rules which no longer apply, and it is too easy to become bogged down there - it is turgid reading!!

The first 4 books of the NT are all narratives about Jesus life and death. This can be a bit repetitive, so choosing just 2 may be better - definitely pick John, and one other. Then read through sequentially to learn all about God's great gift to us - Jesus Christ.

If you want to dip into the Old Testament there are 2 suggestions I would make.

    1) Read a Psalm a day in addition to your New Testament reading

    2) If your Bible has footnotes where it references back to Old Testament scripture from the New Testament, flick back to those passages as you go.

Whatever you decide, ask God through His Holy Spirit to speak to you as you read. This truly brings the word alive!

    God Bless you

Start with the book that tells you exactly what the book is about. The gospel of John. Then read the rest of the books of the New Testament. Then go read the books of Genesis and Exodus skipping the next 3. Starting with Joshua read all the rest thru 2 Chronicles then go back and read Numbers and Deuteronomy. save Leviticus for last it is hard to read because it was the laws of the Priest.

There are lots of ways to read the bible. Personally, I believe starting in Genesis and really digging out the truth here will help ground you spiritually. All of the doctrines of the bible can be found in seed form in the first 5 chapters of the bible. Secondly, Deuteronomy is a close second because this is the book Yeshua (Jesus) quoted the most.

If you're a first time reader/ I would say that the new testament( the Jesus stories ) is easier to read. The first page is the Adam and Eve part; when you get to the laws given to Moses, it starts to get a little stickier. If you feel like skipping from there to Isaiah and continue through the prophets. If you are asking about the schedules and spelled out reading rituals that the jews and Catholics provide,, uhmmmm... I hate to criticize,,, but I just read it from cover to cover constantly.. Sometimes I just open it up to whatever page randomly appearrs before my face , and at the end of that readd, I am surprised to see that HE actually wanted me to read that passage again , because it actually applied to whatever was happening to me that day

Read the Bible in the order in which it was compiled. It was expressly put together that way.

Doesnt matter, what matters is what result you want out of it.

I recommend to only read the instructions and try to do them and understand them. Only read what Jesus said to be a good person.

But even that is almost impossible.

Do you know what "do not judge or you will be judged" means?

Hint: every emotion and thought you have is your choosing, none can make you think or feel anything. Its you who choose to love them or hate them or think and feel that they are a good person or a bad one.

All catholic, orthodox and protestantic churches are all false so dont listen to them. Only good people go to heaven.

Its almost impossible to be good and "born again".

When you want to learn more, ask me. ^^

  • Read the Gospel of John first! Then read Romans, Corinthians, Hebrews, etc.........Timothy 1 and 2. Any Paul's letters are good to read. After that, go back to Mathew, Luke, and Mark.

You should also read Genesis. It will tell you the downfall of men, our sins, and our need for a savior.
