Retired with hubby - Ellesmere N Shropshire. Trained in mental & general nursing and social work. Born in a village - outskirts of Bradford UK. Family village Methodist church - asked Christ into my life at 15, at evangelical Methodist church in town. I look at all denominations & other faiths - I concentrate on shared beliefs rather than the differences; we all Know in part. My current understanding is that Christ, by his victory, is able to touch all who honestly seek Truth & pursue the principles of love of God & man, (even in old religions) The true Christian Church headed by Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, is God's chosen channel & instrument in the world to be workers in his Grand Plan to renew all things. We're all in different places & insights on a faith journey, arrive only when we meet King Jesus King face to face. Hubby AT 66YRS became a Christian by a lengthy vision ! Has the prophetic Gift. Have written 'Worlds Within A World' - Dorothy Dyson Wo
Religion and Spirituality?
A question to Christians:- Have we ever really noticed that the last command of Jesus to his apostles was to make, of all nations, not merely Christian believers but DISCIPLES - talmidim- and "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." A disciple is one who learns -there is nothing static or living in a faith 'comfort zone' for a disciple. Matthew A question to Christians:- Have we ever really noticed that the last command of Jesus to his apostles was to make, of all nations, not merely Christian believers but DISCIPLES - talmidim- and "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." A disciple is one who learns -there is nothing static or living in a faith 'comfort zone' for a disciple. Matthew 28:16 to the e. This calls to mind the warning about being lukewarm given in Jesus' letter to the church at Laodicea- "So, because you are neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:16 - So, is there any place in Christ's true Church for people who choose to 'sit ' in the same spiritual place (condition) or choose a limited level of commitment?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 years agoA recent question was asked about pornography, I forget the exact wording?
It asked why this problem was generally not dealt with in churches - it was deleted. On this spirituality site it was a very relevant question, for wrongly used sex is most certainly a sin as taught in the Bible, and it is a known sin amongst some Christians. Christian leadership SHOULD raise this issue, this is not being judgemental but part of a Christian leader/teacher's job. Or are parts of the Bible banned for discussion on this site? I am extremely alarmed. Is this site becoming hassled with too many biased or closed minds that refuse to discuss sensitive issues?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you think Yahoo Questions and Answers should carry a mental-health warning?
Like - Users BEWARE! - of the subtle, entrancing, magnetic, alluring, psychologically addictive quality of using this site, overtly inducing physical inertia on the user and stifling the the prompts of conscience to -'Get out and clean that car! ' - 'Get in that kitchen!' - 'Get back to that workshop - office - cleaning -mending/fixing - mail - and all that important priority stuff!
If you are the addictive type -Watch it mate!
7 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoWhat is your view on what I see again and again here on Yahoo Answers?
This was a recent Question on this site; the additional stuff was about how atheists constantly misquote scripture out of context to back up their stance ... or something like that, I cannot check up on it now - I answered this question and was chosen as the best answer and then it WAS DELETED! I do not have a copy of my own response.
Why in the name of democracy was this one deleted? I see far more offensive stuff on Questions.
It is not good enough Yahoo!
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen you started school had your mind already picked up attitudes, beliefs or unbeliefs from your parents?
The atheist scientist Richard Dawkins campaigns against faith schools in the UK because he says that the schools indoctrinate them with mythical religious ideas that confuse factual knowledge.
My argument is that school children have already picked up the attitudes, biases religious beliefs and habits of those at home.. There can be no such thing as a child starting school with a mind that is like a blank canvas. This seems to be what Dawkins dreams of.
I say that as a scientist, Dawkins is peculiarly weak on human psychology.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoThis is addressed to Christians and others - Do you realise that the sins of the heart/spirit are the worst.?
Do you realise that sins of the heart/spirit are more deadly than the sins of the flesh?
It was sin of the heart that killed Jesus - mostly jealousy and the fear in the men of power of losing their position. Pride and rivalry were the sins in the religious leaders that angered Jesus so much. Un-forgiveness boastfulness, arrogance, a holier -than -thou attitude, a critical, abusive spirit- all these are sins of the heart.
Jesus readily forgave those whose sin was of the flesh, (of the body) immoral women for example. A man keen on money, Zacchaeus the tax collector. (The natural instinct of survival can inspire a too strong desire for money) He befriended heavy drinkers.
King David had a weakness for women (sin of the flesh) he even had the husband, Uriah, of Bathsheba killed in the army's front lines to get his wife. He suffered by losing the child they had ...and yet God forgave him and went on to bless him. God understands our human weaknesses.
This question has been inspired by a question about lust that has been deleted, which I wanted to answer!
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoOn a question re Christians and the Bible, I wonder why Asker gave the best answer award inappropriately?
that is - to someone who has not even studied the Bible - a quick read is superficial and useless. I ask - does Asker skim over the serious answers written by genuine not 'bad', Christians?
I refer to the Question "If Christians are such good people why do they indulge in such bad behaviour." Posed by Entropy and Pain
