How to extend wifi range?

I need to extend the wifi range of my laptop. I DO NOT mean i want to extend the router's range, I want to extend my computer's range. Currently I have an iBook G4 and need to extend the range. Please help me to do so.

Thank-you!

Best way would be to buy a USB wireless adapter, and use that instead of your builtin wifi. The USB adapter will probably have much better range. Here's one so you see what I'm talking about:

There are lots of others -- search around for "USB wireless adapter" and compare.

You have not specified where you are using the wifi and for what purpose. The range of wifi signals is of 50mtrs and if you need to amplify / increase the range then put higher dbi antenna to the router but all it will work in open space. There are other solutions also but you should provide the details of connectivity required for.

assuming you know how to change the battery power plan on your laptop, you should go to change plan settings/ advanced settings and find the wireless adapter settings there, and look through the options there. i know this works for 7 and vista.
