Is the equator or are the poles being more affected by global warming?

Since it's a greenhouse effect, cold places should be affected disproportionately. Is this disproportionate effect immediate or gradual with respect to global warming? I understand that climatologists know greenhouse gases are responsible for the global warming as opposed to something else because observably night, winter and cold regions were warming more quickly. Have I misunderstood? Can someone offer more insight?

Update:

Ty, all that aside, I'm really just asking about greenhouse effects in general. I'll probably have to rephrase my question.

The areas with permanent glaciation (such as the poles) offer an easy way to both assess the local effects of global warming in those areas and to measure the main potential threat (the change in sea level) by simply measuring the thickness of ice. But there are no places that specifically 'warm more quickly', it's the planet-wide average that is increasing.

It's all a bunch of crap anyways to justify more taxes. The earth has been warming an cooling in cycles for millions of years, and the major research organizations have been caught lying , cheating, and fabricating data. Google "climategate". They also change the data coming in by eliminating most of the cooler rural gathering points and increasing reliance on warmer urban ones. They have even destroyed the original data so nobody can question their conclusions. I am not making any of this up... Anytime the answer to the problem is "we have to tax the bejeezus out of something!" you need to question the source and who stands to gain from the solution to the so-called "problem". For an alternative viewpoint, check out www.wattsupwiththat.com. You wouldn't believe the things the global warming hoaxsters are getting away with. I especially like the temp gathering sites right next to Tarmac and Jet exhausts, right next to AC condensors, etc. It's all C-R-A-P
