Black coffee at Starbucks?
I've seen mentioned that Starbucks stores serve dark and mild roasts. On their website, they have "Bold Pick of the Day" and "Pike Place Roast". Are these the dark and mild roasts? Is "Bold Pick of the Day" on every menu? I want a strong dark-roasted black coffee.
1 AnswerNon-Alcoholic Drinks10 years agoShouldn't greenhouse warming reduce tropical storms, hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones?
Since the greenhouse effect affects higher latitudes more than lower ones and winter more than summer, shouldn't it reduce tropical storms, hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones which are caused by cool air (which will be warmer) meeting warm water (which will be warmer too but to a lesser degree)?
1 AnswerWeather10 years agoCan you lose weight and gain strength?
I know you can't build muscle and lose weight at the same time, because building muscle requires a calorie surplus while losing weight requires a calorie deficit. But can you build strength and lose weight at the same time? I mean, say you can only do 20 push-ups in a single set. Can you up the number of push-ups you can do without building muscle?
24 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agoWill previous psychiatric treatment disqualify you for military service?
I was diagnosed and medicated for bipolar as a teenager. But I think this was a misdiagnosis. I haven't been on any medication for over 4 years. Would this disqualify me for service in the US Army?
4 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhy are crude oil prices falling in the US right now?
A little while ago, crude oil prices were plummeting with the price of the euro. Now the euro and pound are rising but crude oil prices are falling. Can someone explain the seeming contradiction? Why are oil prices falling?

Billy Bob Thornton's character speaks in heavy dialect. I was wondering if any Britons who happened to have seen Sling Blade could understand him.
1 AnswerMovies1 decade agoIs it rude to leave a tip at restaurants in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan or Korea?
I know that not all cultures tip waiters and waitresses, let alone essentially require tips as in the US. I've heard that in China gratuity doesn't express gratitude but is rude or insulting. Is there truth in that? How are tips perceived in China and elsewhere in East Asia? Korea and Japan are very different from China culturally but still have many similarities. I wonder how they perceive tips as well.

I'm posting this at 2 AM with birds twirping outside. I thought birds only did this during the day. Are these birds ill? Or is this normal?
3 AnswersZoology1 decade agoIs the equator or are the poles being more affected by global warming?
Since it's a greenhouse effect, cold places should be affected disproportionately. Is this disproportionate effect immediate or gradual with respect to global warming? I understand that climatologists know greenhouse gases are responsible for the global warming as opposed to something else because observably night, winter and cold regions were warming more quickly. Have I misunderstood? Can someone offer more insight?

Tyrannus mundi and rector mundi? How can compounds be formed in Latin? Is mundirector or mundorector a correctly formed compound? I'd prefer to know a single (compound) word "world ruler".
4 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhy was the Secret Service made the agency responsible for protecting the president? Why not some other agency?
The Secret Service existed originally to suppress counterfeit currency, until the assassination of McKinley in 1901, when they took the duty of protecting the US president. Why was the Secret Service chosen and not some other agency or the military or some group newly formed?

1 AnswerBiology1 decade agoIs a knife with a two-dimensional blade width able to slice anything in three dimensions?
A two-dimensional blade width would be infinitely thin. I mean that if you laid the knife on a surface it would look like an ordinary knife but if you pointed the tip toward yourself, the blade would disappear as its two dimensional.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoWhen will 007 be an American? A non-white person? A woman?
With the BBC and other media breaking all manner of dialectal, racial and gender barriers, certainly it is only inevitable that the 007 franchise will reflect the diversity of Britain, the Anglosphere, and even the world. So, I wonder, when will 007 be an American? When will he be a non-white person? When will he be a woman? (I know I wrote "he" and not "she".)
7 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWhy aren't the people who are protesting the Olympics using their time and their money more productively?
Why don't they give to the homeless or to any other charity the time they are spending and the money they spent (on signage, costumes and other things)? Isn't there hypocrisy inherent in the protesters' message?
