Can you lose weight and gain strength?

I know you can't build muscle and lose weight at the same time, because building muscle requires a calorie surplus while losing weight requires a calorie deficit. But can you build strength and lose weight at the same time? I mean, say you can only do 20 push-ups in a single set. Can you up the number of push-ups you can do without building muscle?

Yes, you can become stronger and lose weight. And you are partly right when you say building muscle requires calorie surplus and losing wight requires a calorie deficit. To lose weight you need to burn more calories then you eat, to building muscle you don't necassary need more calories you just need to eat the right type of food for your body to help maintain or build muscle. Let's use your 20 push ups as an example for your main question, lets say you weigh 200 lbs, in a push up your a lifting approx 70% of your weight during the push up. So now we have 140lbs you are lifting during your push up and lets say you lose 10 lbs. now its approx 133 pounds you are lifting but lets say you do 35 push ups, it might be slighty lower weight but it is almost twice as many push ups.

you may drop some pounds by using working or strolling. Definitly initiate doing this: turn on your ipod, initiate blasting music, and do one hundred pushups. Then do one hundred situps (oh yea those dont hafta be in a row, merely attempt to do 10 at a time then take a wreck), and in case you have the kit you may bench (dont do too lots, on your age i might initiate at around 40 or 50) and use an eliptical for thighs. additionally experience your bike if the climate helps it and merely basically do the comparable. in case you desire a time table, right here: Day a million: one hundred/two hundred pushups and one hundred/two hundred situps. Day 2: Run or bike (the two outdoors or run on a treadmill) Day 3: Bench or merely repeat day a million. rinse and repeat! desire I helped. and watch what you consume, it is going to help alot in understanding. And in case you hear to music, save it upbeat and quickly no longer a sluggish music.
