You need to find a very good product that people really want. You need to do lots of investigation on line to see how the product is reviewed and then know exactly how to market it. The problem with Affiliate Marketing is that people choose the wrong product, they don't do enough research and they wonder why they fail. Use reputable online opportunities that are reviewed.

It can if you know how to do it. That's the reason why they say that in the internet marketing business, only 10% make it. So it depends whether you wanna be part of the 90% who'd end up failing or do your best to be part of the 10% who can quit their day jobs and live on internet marketing money.
You have to choose the right product and be on the right niche. Usually, info products are better because they have higher commissions.
You also either have to keep a blog or a sales website that has enough traffic or a huge (ultra!) mailing list. And to get a huge mailing list, you still need a hugely popular website that gathers email from subscribers...
So in the end, still boils down to driving traffic. LOL, this could be a lengthy post if I dicuss some of the web traffic driving methods I know of so just google 'how to drive web traffic' or go to a helpful site like the one below. BTW, I'm keeping a website too and it took me about half a month to stabilize the traffic but it works. :)

Research, and talking with people. yes, a mentor helps and there a some great ones out there. There are also personal development coaches, Jim Rohn, Motivated Mike, Jeff Olsen. Paul J. Meyer. to name a few. You have to research yourself and find out what it is you are looking for yourself. I purchase my leads from companies that are already doing the marketing, it is easier that way. Good Luck. and I hope I aswered your question.
