Doesn't the Navy say "Join the Navy, and see the world?" So start seeing it. I believe most of the Navy activity is across the bay in the Oakland / Alameda area. "Thank You" for your service to the country.

You should definitely move there if you can appreciate all the wonderful things San Francisco and it's surroundings have to offer. Otherwise, go somewhere else and leave more space for people who can appreciate it. San Francisco is the most beautiful city in America, and it doesn't really feel like a big city to me. It has all the good things you expect from a big city, but has a real "home town" feel to it.
