If you don't mind a little mess finger painting with pudding is fun. My friend threw a birthday party for her one year old and had an activity for babies while the older kids did there activities. All you need is pudding and a few drops of food coloring if you want different colors. Then you take wax paper and let them finger paint and during and after they can eat it up. It's a lot of fun..

My son started to play with a ball at that age. Either playing with us (throw and catch) or by himself (throw - crawl - catch) which is nice when he can occupy himself for 10 minutes!
He also started to squiggle with crayons at 11 months so maybe you can buy his first set and try.

we bought our son a jump a roo (i think that is what it's called) its a little seat that helps them bounce, my son loved it. he also loves playing with toys like balls. you can roll it around and they would probably want to roll it too. but i would definitely recommend the jumparoo. it cost like 80 bucks when we bought it
