If the stamps are 57 cents each, you can simply put two of those on the envelope and it will be enough. Postage from Canada to USA is currently $1.00 (the rate went up in January from 98 cents), so two stamps would mean you actually paid $1.14 to mail that letter.
If you want to put EXACT amount of postage, just go to the post office or pharmacy and ask them for a stamp to mail to the US, and they will give you a $1.00 stamp.
By the way, I should warn you that sending money through the postal system is never a wide idea. If the envelope is not thick enough, people can see the currency inside, and it has happened in the past that your letter "mysteriously" never arrives at its destination!
The bank and the post office both offer "money orders" that can be used instead of cash. It will cost you $3 or $4 but it's kind of like a cheque...no one but the recipient can cash it. An even better method nowadays is to set up a PayPal account and transfer the money that way.

Yep. There is an international accord between countries - if you put on the proper amount of postage in Canadian stamps and mail it in Canada, it will go anywhere in the world. But you can't use Canadian stamps in the US - the letter has to originate in Canada.

You will need two of them to send your letter to the US. But why are you sending Canadian bills to the US? They can't use it down there.

Are you in Canada? Then you must know: the 57cent stamp is for domestic postage. To send it to the USA requires a 98cent stamp, or 98cents total in other stamps.
