Diana Wynne Jones question?

Is Diana Wynne Jones a children's author? I want to read Howl's Moving Castle by her but after watching the anime film of this book I am kind of worried it might be a little to childish for me. I am currently reading 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' which is a really adult book which I like but I am hoping that this is just a normal fantasy book and nothing i would get bored of easily

I have seen her books in children's, teens, and adults, depending on the store/library.

Personally, I started reading DWJ when I was 12 or 13? I think Howl's was the first one I read, and I HAVE seen the movie and they're reeeally different. First of all, that little kid, Markl, or whatever? His name is Michael and he's like, 15... not 7 and actually has a part in the story. The war, the airships, and the witch's redemption were added to the movie because Miyazaki uses those themes in alot of his movies.

In the novel, Howl is sooo much more interesting. He's a slitherer outer, which is his reason for not wanting to do stuff, not pacifism like it is in the movie. He's also a womaniizer. He's also got a waaay more interesting back story then in the movie. Also, he doesn't turn into a giant birdman.

"Madame Sulliman" is "Wizard Sulliman" (and male) in the books, and isn't a jerk

Calcifer is an actual demon, and not a cute little animated sidekick

there's a lot more mystery and such going on in the book. It isn't totally adult, but it can be enjoyed by adults (I still love it, and actually it makes a lot more sense to me now then it did when I read it back in the day). I like the movie a lot, but really, it's only very loosley based on the book. The book is amazing, and DWJ in general is a great author. Darklord of Derkholm and Deep Magic are also good ones, as is Chronicles of Chrestomanci.
