Does anyone else feel more comfortable outside their own race?
I've been the only white guy countless times among blacks. It makes me happy and calm. Also quite a bit with Asians,Native Americans,Latins.pretty much anyone.I've always felt happier and more comfortable. It's quite unlike my own so called family. My parents are great, but the rest of them make me want to run and hide. It''s hard mentioning this, because I get sick of hearing about race. This, however,is something positive at least.

I think it's because you're one of the few people who look at personality and not colour.

Yes, I feel fine being with people outside my own race... well, i mean whenever i go on these trips, the people i go with are also international students, but i am usually the only white person :P it makes me feel special :), well, that is when i think about it or when someone points it out. It's usually just more of a natural thing for me to be around non-white people.

Well I'm introverted for the most part, and most black people tend to be extroverted (the ones around me). I get along better with Asians and some whites.

When I was younger, most of the black kids in school made fun of me and called me "white girl", and stuff because of the way I talk, act, etc. So I felt uncomfortable around black people for a while b/c I thought they wouldn't accept me. But I grew out of it, especially when I got to college and met lots of other black kids like me, and even ones who weren't like me but were too open-minded to care.

Yep. I don't hang out with Vietnamese people. Maybe it's because I'm mixed, or because I only know about 70% Vietnamese. I usually hang with Hispanics and Black people. They are really cool once you get to know them.

I'm not technically of any race so I'm always outside my 'own'. I can't say the other person's race particularly impacted on how 'comfortable' I was with them, though. To me, it's irrelevant.

No. I get along with ppl who share similiar interests, are nice, and fun to hang around no matter what race they are.
But to each its own.

I think it is depend on your upbringing, who you know, what kind of people you and they are, the color has nothing to do with it, however, when you feel different from others, sure because you are different. It same goes to when you visit foreign country, you are outsider.
