Can I configure my desktop for LAMP and still use it as a personal PC?

I want to learn how to program and use MySQL and PHP, I am currrently running Linux Mint 8, (my home pc). Can I configure it for LAMP and still use the pc as my general use pc?

    Yes, its fine if your running it for learning purposes.

    If your running it to host a website 24/7 just be careful not to store sensitive information on the computer. LAMP is secure, but there is always that slim chance there is an undiscovered bug that hackers (given enough server up-time) can mess with. Or, you could write some bad code, giving hackers a chance to take over your Mysql server etc.......
