What can I do to get rid of mice at work?
I work in a restaurant/bar/club. I am a cook there so that means I am constantly in and out of the walk-in cooler. Which also means I have the pleasure of almost peeing myself every night I work because we have mice in the cooler. Now, before you go calling the health department let me tell you that all of the food is kept in plastic containers with lids. We can't use the sticky traps because of the chemicals, and we can't use the snap traps because..well, for obvious reasons. We have these little metal box traps that I think might be the catch and release ones, but the mice aren't going in them. What can I put in the cooler to drive the mice away, while making sure the food isn't harmed
I can see about the peanut butter..but that might attract bugs. Any old wives tales that have worked?
ME- that is an interesting idea..hhmm, might bring that one up to the boss man! As for them getting in, it's inevitable. The place is located next to a huge field. And the building is nowhere near brand new

Put chewy chocolate chip cookies in the metal traps they LOVE those. Be sure the traps are along the walls. Your other option is to set up a temporary cooler and move the food. Then go ape crazy on them. But they have to be getting in there somehow. You need to inspect all the walls and seams and the door gap. No matter how well you are protecting the food they have to be surviving somehow. Steel Wool stuffed in cracks and caulking..
Snap traps can be put inside cardboard boxes laid on thier sides. This will eliminate any.....mess. Place a row of unbaited snap traps in a "U" a few inches from the back of the box but along the sides and put the cookies behind the barricade. Mice really are blind and use walls to walk along.
Placing mouse seed outside will kill the little buggers too. It comes in boxes about the size of a deck of cards.

you really need to sort out the problem out and seal the freezer up and put steel mesh screen where they are coming in. a good offence is the best defence also outside get some of the blue mice posion from an exterminator to help kill them off. killing them off inside is like saying to your customers come in we have a special on mice as we not stopping them from coming in. a good cat will help too. there is also the electronic things but I have bad results from them the mouse just came in and toured around desipte it
