which is better to workout, going to gym or at home?

On a strictly personal basis, I found it better to go to the gym. When you go to the gym, you are usually with a group of people who are there for about the same reasons you are, and for me, that added to my motivation. The gym is better equipped than your home will ever be.
On top of that, at the gym, you are not alone, which is great should something happen (I speak from experience)

I think it really all depends on your preference. Some people need the motivation of a gym to get them to workout, other can get the same motivation at home. There is also the comfort level. Some people feel more comfortable and focused working out in their homes while others find that comfort at the gym. I would recommend trying both and see what works for you better.
