actually....ther is no fixed duration or time limit to it....u can do abs anytime of the day(provided ur stomach is not full) or after every workout(gym)......i suggest u to do it on alternate days coz u r a beginner!..it wil help ur recover on non workin days....ther r many ways and techniques for gettin ur abs into shape.....do abs(lower/upper)routine for day 1 next do ur sides and hips routine for day 2 and repeat so on.....finish ur abs in 20-30 mins flat...dont over do it......once u get used to it.....do power workouts in 15mins(fast)....u wil see maximum changes in a months tiime....

you should workout your abs every other day so they can get recovered and grow up, abs are muscles too and like the other muscles need recovery time, they need 24 hours to get full recovered so work them out every other day. do a lot cardio like running, watch over your nutrition and cut out junk food, and eat healthy and you will see a lot difference
