I get nauseated by mushy foods, they make me want to puke. Is this normal?

Whenever I eat food that is too mushy (ie. squash, scalloped potatoes, really watery mash potatoes, anything with consistency of baby food) it triggers my gag reflex and a I nearly puke. I don't get it with ice cream, but I will get it with veggie burgers and anything else that is stuff mushed together. I think its because vomit itself is mushy and it triggers a bad memory, thus activating my gag reflex. Do other people get this?

It's a psychological issue mostly caused by a bad memory like you said. It's not a big issue, my friend had the same problem. She cured it by thinking of the exact food that caused her to puke. now that she knows what the food is and she doesn't eat it, and other foods don't bother her. Perhaps you could try that to? unless it's just the thought of puke it's self that's causing the problem.

The texture is causing the problem but I've also heard of smells and the way the food looks causing the same problem. so you not alone

as an example, some psychologist (i can't remember his name) ate steak bolognese at a restaurant one time, then later they got food poisoning. Now every time they think they smell the sauce they get sick.

You have a problem with a food texture. It is fairly common. There are many textures and the one I cant stand is gumminess. Yes I despise gum and chewy candies even over chewy fat.

its called being a picky eater

some people will have strong aversions to certain flavors or textures, some won't

either live with it, or expose yourself to small amounts until you get over it.
