Resurrection in the selfsame material body?

I belief in an eternal life after death but according to Christianity we will rise again in the selfsame body as we are living in now. There is one problem with this idea. In which form will we come back. I wish to live forever as a teenager, but my mother wants to see me as a little child and my father as an adult. So what's it gonna be? How shall this problem be solved unless we will live in our original, eternal spiritual form, of which we are not aware now at present, being covered by material illusion and which has nothing to do with our present material body and mind?

Please explain.

'Live in a spiritual, eternal form' is a paradox because life in a particular physical body has a beginning and an end. When the embodied soul attains release, it merges into the Universal Soul. The form taken by our body after death depends on the karma-mental, verbal and physical- of the present life.It is not possible to be born again in the same body because the body perishes in death. That is why to satisfy such an urge as you mention is in your mother,we are told by our sages and saints who have interpreted holy Texts and lived by them that we must love everybody as our kith and kin, we should not hate anybody because 'hate' is a self-destructive term, that service to the needy and the downtrodden is service to God.

Jesus Christ taught two distinct resurrections:

(Matthew 5:3) . . .“Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.

On the same breath Jesus said:

(Matthew 5:5) 5 “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.

Jesus taught that only a small number of Christians would be called to heavenly life for a purpose:

(Luke 12:32) . . .“Have no fear, little flock, because YOUR Father has approved of giving YOU the kingdom.

Notice that a 'little flock' inherits the kingdom. What will they do in heaven with Christ?

(Revelation 20:6) 6 Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years.

(Revelation 5:10) . . .and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”

Who will they rule over. The vast majority of those resurrected will come back to a cleansed earth. They will eventually live as perfect humans on our planet transformed into a paradise by Jehovah through Christ.

(Psalm 37:29) . . .The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

So there you have it in a nutshell.

    Cheers

Paul explains the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15. He contrasts our current body (natural, corruptible, mortal) with our resurrection body (spiritual, incorruptible, immortal, and elsewhere, glorified).

How will we look? He doesn't go that far.

To be honest, what relevance could it really have? Are you more concerned with how you'll look than the fact that you will have eternal life? Let's put things in perspective, shall we?

1 Corinthians 15:51-53 (King James Version)

51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Unfortunately you have a good point. It is like explaining the trinity, very difficult.

Jesus had his own body (scars and all) but he seemed to have the ability to pass thru walls, etc.

So, the short answer is we will have "glorified" bodies.

    We never come back.

You either go to heaven or hell depending on if you put your faith into Jesus Christ or not.

Heaven is eternal happiness in the full presence of the Lord.

    1 Corinthians 2:9

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

Hell is eternal torture. You don't want to go there, but it's easy to avoid. Just put your faith into Jesus Christ. =)

Jesus is God and the only way into heaven. Please pray a sincere prayer with all of your heart admitting to Jesus you are a sinner. Have full faith that His blood pays off all of your sins and accept His gift of everlasting life. I pray that God blesses you with peace. Amen.

Augustine said it would be our body at the peak of our prime. I really think the only thing we can do here is speculate.

When He appears, you will be like Him. Jesus was 33; resurrected people will all be 33.
