My neocon neighbor keeps calling President Obama, "President Obumfvck" -- Can I sue him for being racist?

It's really freaking annoying but when I'm outside, I can hear him talking on his phone or with his friends through his fence and he keeps disgracing President Obama's name. Can I sue him for being unpatriotic and racist? Can you recommend a free lawyer?

Typical liberal... you want to deny others the right to free speech.

How many awful things did you say about Bush when he was president? Where's my lawyer? I'm going to sue you, you racist.

You can't sue someone for being racist. However, if you are denied a job or some government service because of your race, then that is a different matter entirely, and you can sue for that. That said, your "neocon neighbor" did not say anything racist in "disgracing President Obama's name." Disrespectful of the office of President? Yes. Racist? No way. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this time in all caps: YOU ARE NOT RACIST FOR DISAGREEING WITH OBAMA. Period. Cheers! ©2010 SinisterMatt. All Rights Reserved.

I bet you attacked George Bush who is white. Can I sue you for being a racist?

Racist? So because Obama is black this means no one can criticize him or call him Obumfvck without being a racist. Why must everything be racist with people like you. Can't people just dislike Obama in the same manner that people didn't like George Bush without race card hustlers crying racism.

    1. It's not racist to insult Obama unless he is using term like N***er, tar-b*by or something equally shameful.

    2. It's not unpatriotic to insult the President. If it were, 3/4's of the Democrats and 1/4 of the Republicans in Congress would be guilty of that for the way they treated President Bush.

As this is still a free country (for now), short of saying something that causes public alarm (Yelling "FIRE" in a crowded theater), you can say anything you want.

Even "hate-speech" laws are on shaky ground constitutionally.

Nope. He should be able to sue you for wanting to infringe on his freedom of speech though.

As a side note, during the Bush years, while you were bashing Bush, was that unpatriotic, or "the highest form of patriotism" as Hillary Clinton said? Bashing a traitor like Maobama is EXTREMELY patriotic, and you should be imprisoned as a traitor for supporting him.

That's better than what I call Him being an unpatriotic socialist and all... just like you. I hear they are renaming the Congress meetings the "Nuremburg Rallies" so it fits!

You can try but you'll just clog up the courts with another nuisance case which will get thrown out. The First Amendment protects his right to free speech so he has the right to say what he will whether you agree with him or not.

Offensive speech is protected under the first amendment. There is nothing threatening in that phrase; he is just showing contempt for person he has every right to hate. Its not racist its just rude. You have a right to be offended by it just as he has a right to offend you. But you don't have a right to silence him.

Free lawyer?!!! HA! Ya f*cking right! Commit a crime, the state will give you one.

And being racist isn't against the law.
