Has anyone gotten their Period at the Beginning of their Pregnancy?

I'm just wondering how common it could be.

Tell me your story please.

Update:

Ashley - It is bright red. I'm thinking something may be wrong.

I was tol dit was okay to still have your period when you are pregnant too because some women just do but the blood is bright red.

There's no clotting tho :[

Update 2:

Well my first pregnancy I did have my period at the beginning but my gyno said that it was normal for some women. Then i lost her at 5 months.

I'm really hoping to be pregnant agian all my symptoms were there & there was a faint line on the last one but now I'm bleeding so bright red I'm just confused. I don't think my period was like this last pregnancy but i can not remember.

hi hun, sorry but i disagree with the answers above,i was 3 months pregnant and did not know because i had my regular period for 3 months as normal, the only reason i found out was as i was getting tired and nauseated, the doctors could not ecplain it either, and the babys now 6 months old and healthy, after the 3rd month period it stopped by itself,so i say anything is possible. other causes for bleeding in pregancy are as follows

    Implantation Bleeding?

Implantation bleeding is lighter than menstrual bleeding, and consists of pink or brown colored blood. Implantation bleeding occurs when the trophoblast, or tissue that surrounds the egg, attaches to the endometrium and slowly eats its way into the lining. As it does so, it eats through the mother's blood vessels, forming blood lakes within itself. When these blood lakes form near the surface of the trophoblast, they often cause implantation bleeding.

(so when the fetus implants into the womb they maybe spotting/bleeding)

    Miscarriage

    Ectopic Pregnancy

Another problem that may cause pain and bleeding in early pregnancy is ectopic pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs in a fallopian tube, it may burst. Ectopic pregnancies are much less common than miscarriages. They occur in about one in 60 pregnancies.

    Molar Pregnancy

A rare cause of early bleeding is molar pregnancy. It is also called gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) or simply a "mole." It is the growth of abnormal tissue instead of an embryo.

    Placenta Previa

When the placenta lies low in the uterus, it may partly or completely cover the cervix. This is called placenta previa. It may cause vaginal bleeding. Placenta previa is serious and requires prompt care.

    hope the info helps

I got pregnant in the middle of sept 09...I had what i thought was a period in the beginning of oct and when it was really light i called the doc...they told me to take a test...which was negative...but i kept bleeding for another week with just light blood...so i called the doc again...which they told me to take another test...which was positive...then i continued to bleed for another week and i was worried about miscarriage...so I called the doc again and they saw me...did a test in the office which was positive and then sent me to ultrasound the same day because the bleeding hadn't stopped...I had a subchorionic bleed where the placent didn't attach right to my uterus...it resolved itself by dec but i had bleeding on and off until then...so it is possible to bleed but if it is more than just a day or two then seek medical attention...some thing could be wrong...

If you are pregnant..it is no longer your period. Lots of women get what they call implantation bleeding which is when the embryo is settling in your uterus and can cause bleeding. It is very common but should still be discussed with your doctor because any bleeding is something that needs to be addressed when you are pregnant

I only knew I had a period during my pregnancy because of my dates, I was a week and 5 days further along meaning I got pregnant 5 days before my period! My period was absolutely normal so I thought I wasn't pregnant and when I found out I was pregnant I thought I was only 4 weeks but nope!

  • I had bleeding right around the time when I was supposed to get my period. It only lasted a day which meant it was implantation bleeding, not my period.

You don't get your period if you're pregnant. Just because blood is coming out doesn't mean it's your period. If it lasts as long as a period, you either misunderstood that you were pregnant, or there is something wrong.

It's not possible to have a period while pregnant. A period shows up when you didn't get pregnant. It would be possible to have implantation bleeding or to experience a chemical pregnancy, in which your period showed up a few days late. With a chemical pregnancy, you could aslo have a + pregnancy test, and then a few days later it will be -.

it is very common to still have a period when you are pregnant, i wouldnt worry about it to much unless it is bright red blood. but call your dr just to be safe anyway.
