Are all Pittsburgh Pirate fans stupid?

I was at that so called game Saturday night against the Braves and the Pirates do what they do best. Lose. When are these stupid fans going to actually do something? We have this crappy coach John Russell and the fans actually cheer when he fails big time at arguing a call at first base. It makes no sense. Instead the fans like me should have been booing him out of the stadium in shame. Or throwing those crappy and worthless figurines on the field. 30,000 or more of those figurines on the field would send a big message to this horrible ownership.

Update:

This will be the 18th straight losing season. They broke the record last season. If they don't want to fix it then get this terrible team and ownership out of Pittsburgh NOW!!!!

Update 2:

Well to be fair the Pirates have talent. Especially in the minors. Too bad they won't call them up. What we need in Pittsburgh is an ownership group and GM that will hire a real coach. Not a crappy third base coach in the minors who in completely clueless. The guy shows no enthusiasm at all. And rarely ever argues a call.

Update 3:

Bill you are exactly right. If we had a cap like the NHL not only would the Pirates actually have a better chance but the ownership would actually be forced to spend money.

Well, short of tying up the players and taking to the field itself, the fans haven't much to do with it.

Its a perfect example of why baseball needs a salary floor. The Pirates ownership dropped their total payroll from the 2009 season by 28% which is the largest payroll decrease in baseball. Their total payoll for 2010 is $35 million, barely enough to field a team. If MLB has any will to make other teams compete then they must force owners to put a decent team on the field.

    EDIT:

I'm not suggesting a cap since its almost impossible to impliment as it is, but a minimum that teams would have to spend.

My idea about the upper end of the payroll is to have a limit to free agent signings for playoff teams similar to the NFL Final Eight plan they had this year which prevents the final 8 teams from signing a high price FA without losing one with equal or higher salary.

A salary cap does not mean that you would have parity in the sport, NHL and NBA have a hard cap and they still have many teams that stink every single year.

The Clippers and Lakers play in the same building in the same market and they are polar opposites from each other. The object of my idea is to get owners in the MLB to at least spend $60 million or so to make tham sign a couple free agents and give the fans a reason to return to the park. The Pirates have an amazing new stadium and the fans deserve a team worthy of going to see.

i respect the Pirates too! besides...the Pirates knew stepping into that they'd no longer get their money's properly worth. Jason Bay became a incredible participant in Pittsburgh, yet he became easily no longer putting up those numbers. And, they were given 8 gamers for one in that deal, so as that can help you in progression a delicate crew, it truly is a few thing that the Pirates attempt to do. I also does no longer be shocked if sometime this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days they commerce away Doumit, McLouth, Sanchez, or Wilson.

Calling up the talent isn't the answer. You may do those young guys more harm than good by bringing them into a losing atmosphere. Let the young guys learn how to win in the minors then bring them along player by player calling up the ones who have shown the moxy to be able to handle the struggles of a major league team. Throwing figurines on the field isn't going to get the attention of an owner who only cares about making a PROFIT! Fans need to stop going to the ball park but in their defense Pittsburgh loves baseball and will always support their team. Pittsburgh isn't Philly we love our franchises and will always be in their corner. We don't bail on them even in the worst of times.

I choose to totally disagree from all i have read PNC is one of the most beautiful Parks. The ticket prices are reasonable compared to places like Yankee stadium. Fans go for the love of the game. What beautiful sport that has endured since the 1870's . Yes they look destined for #18 the owners don't care but us fans do. We look at the players being outmatched but giving there all for the love of the game. Baseball rocks and i'm in China working how i wish i was home and could waste my hard earned cash on the game i Truly love.

Haha. You're all mad at the ownership so that makes the fans stupid.

You're quite the funny one. Are "ALL" Pittsburgh Pirate fans stupid? You went to the game. You should know. You're the one calling yourself stupid and using the word "we" to describe the team.

You wouldn't happen to be Pedro Alvarez would you?
