how many people love their animals?

just wondering how many people love their animals enough to stick it out with them in this economy? early this week someone asked a question about if you feel like you are your animals servant. my answer was no, that i love my animals. well they chose my answer as the best answer and then called me a low life? i do not understand why some people think you must be a low life if you love your animals enough to take the responsibility seriously. i am NOT RICH NOR AM I A LOW LIFE! I would not give my human kids away just because of the economy so why would i give my animals away? one of the dogs i have is from a shelter that was taken there because of the economy, she was due to be put to sleep the day i got her. just because people don't think about ALL the responsibility they are taking on when they get an animal. well call me a low life if it makes you feel better about yourself. my question is this- how many people would not give their animals away because of the economy and would you consider yourself a low life either way rather you would or not?

Update:

do not get me wrong i am not saying anything bad about anyone who HAS to give their pet up. i am just saying people are not low lifes for keeping their pets. they are not low lifes because they have to, i understand sometimes you have to make a choice.

    Very well said!

I would never even consider giving my animals away.

I love them more than anything, and wouldnt trade them for the world.

I made the commitment to get them and care for them, so i'm not giving up on them just because money is a little tougher.

Honestly, i would rather spend money on keeping my pets happy and healthy than i would myself :)

Sometimes when you love someone or something the best you can do for them is offer them a better alternative. People have given away their kids because they were so poor they couldnt feed them. It must be heart wrenching decision but sometimes the best decisions are the hardest ones.

If its a matter of choosing food for my pets or buying new clothes... I can handle that. But food for my kids or food for my animals? I would let my animals go without hesitation but with much heartache. Food for your spouse or your kids? i know people who would answer that without hesitation... everyonehas a line they cant cross. Your dog is lucky to have found you but try not to judge to others harshly. Its better they took the animal to a shelter then tied up in an abondoned yard or set free to the street with no survival skills. At least the shelter had a chance....

Personally, I Love my animals like my own family. I can't imagine giving them away because of a bad economy. You are not a low life... you're an animal lover! I've had my pets through the worst of the economy crash- and I'm planning on keeping them.

I treat her like I'd treat a person, with respect and love. I'll go where ever she goes. She will never... EVER AS LONG AS SHE LIVES b with out care, love and and everything she needs. I love her. my dog is no longer with me but I love him for ever. what part of that Is low? Im NOT a low-life and neither r u.

You are not a low life, neither is anyone else that takes responsibility for their pets(and children)! Guess some people resort to name calling or pointing fingers to distract attention from their own mistakes in life. Don't worry about it. I love my animals as family members and treat them as such!

I agree with you! My animals don't cost THAT much money. Nothing at all like a child. I would skip a couple meals a month to keep my animals if I had to.
