Why you can get ticket while driving car with out sit belt on and drive motorcycle with out helmet?

Because it's the Law period

Wearing a seat belt is mandatory in my state. Wearing a helmet is not mandatory in my state. That is how the laws read.

I don't need a law to tell me to buckle up either my seat belt or my motorcycle helmet. I was in an auto accident a life time ago and was knocked out of the car. Fortunately I only suffered road rash. Been wearing a seat belt ever since.

Wearing a full face helmet is a no brainer.

The problem come into play when the government tells us what choices to make. That is the argument made by the anti-helmet law proponents.

Several reasons - none of them have to do with logic. They all have to do with the all mighty dollar.

1. The Federal Government won't fork over highway funds unless the state plays by their rules - which means things like maximum speed limits (Montana speed limit on the hwy is 80 MPH, why 65 in FL?), anti-smog requirements, and seat belt laws.

2. Biggest reason, insurance industry lobbies for seat belt laws to keep their claims minimized. And the law helps push down insurance rates for drivers, which voters like.

3. Statistically a helmet doesn't help a great deal in motorcycle crash. EMTs will tell you that wearing a helmet just makes finding the head easier after a bad accident. The statistic is something along the lines of - a helmet helped save the riders life in 2% of motorcycle accidents.

4. Motorcyclists will usually fight helmet laws much more effectively than drivers fight seat belt laws.

5. Motorcyclists make up a very small % of highway users/accidents, so in the grand scheme of insurance claims it doesn't mean much.

Because it's against the law to drive a car without wearing a seat belt but it's not against the law to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

Some states have mandatory helmet laws. Most states have mandatory helmet laws for minors and people riding a motorcycle on a learner's permit.

Motorcyclists in FL pay an extra fee to a fund to not wear a helmet. The proceeds of the fund takes care of them if they get their brains scrambled.

Would you be willing to pay an extra fee to not wear your seatbelt? If there were enough support for this, if could be put onto the ballot just like the helmet issue above. The reason the helmet issue was passed is that motorcyclists tend to be a fiercely independent bunch, and have very good support (American Motorcyclists Association - AMA), which, I should also mention they also pay a yearly fee to be a member of. This is a situation where "the squeaky wheel gets the oil." Car drivers just don't complain loudly enough. Demand your rights. Start a movement.

If you dont wear a seat belt in a car, you dont just pose a danger to yourself, but to everyone around you. There was a case in London where 3/4 four people were buckled in and got in a head on collision. They would have been fine except the one not buckled in flailed around the car during the crash and killed everyone else.

Plus, motorcyclists require a special endorsement on their licence in order to even ride. They know the dangers of riding without a helmet and if they choose to do so they are only endangering themselves.

For the same reason children on school buses don't wear seat belts. Because people in cars just accept what the law says.

Why you whine Patek? In old country no sit belt for wear. No helmet hat, 5 people to a scooter. No bash, Florida wonderfill OK.

Sure you can! Wearing a helmet in a car reeks of shadiness. That automatically gives the CHP/Cop more than enough probable cause!!! Also, it limits peripheral vision, that's just stupid, silly! Short answer: Motorcyclists vote and a lot of bikers don't like wearing helmets.

As stated before, no belt in a car makes you a danger to others. On a bike, you're a greater danger to yourself.
