Americans, which is worse: socialism or racism?

Apply the principle: Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law.

Do we wish to live in a society where WE are discriminated against on the basis of the color of our skin. We do not. Hence, we should never exercise racism towards others. Thus racism is always wrong in and of itself.

As for socialism, we must ask what it is first. Do we mean the provision of universal health care (as many in the USA have equated the recent Health Care bill with socialism). Do we wish to live in a society where we may be unable to provide health care for ourselves simply because we may be too poor? Never mind if you have money and can afford to pay for health care, what if you are one of the unlucky ones that can not afford it?

So I say racism is worse, infinitely worse, than socialism. Socialism may not deliver what it promises, but what it promises (such as universal health care) is not evil in itself. However, racism is evil in and of itself.

Because I am a white female, I would choose socialism, because racism does not affect me directly. Though IMHO - They are both equally bad.

The two are not even comparable. You can still have racism in a soclisitc society.

Okay, you've given us two choices: one an economic system, and the other the state of thinking one race is better than another. They are not mutually exclusive, and have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
