Car boot sales, flea markets, house clearances... Places where they can be picked up cheap as you may find yourself needing a few and so that you don't need to worry about your subjects bashing them or making a general mess of them by accident

Absolutely!
Garage sales are also fantastic for that..
there are stores that sell pros.. but, the props are either expensive or cheaply built, and not authentic looking.
As well as antique sales.. but those can be a wee bit pricey.
