I had the trojan virus on my laptop computer and it still will not let me connect to the internet? HELP!?

We have a program where it did take off the things that keep popping up saying we are being attacked or whatever, they aren't doing that anymore. But, it still won't let me connect to the internet or anything.. Although it says the internet is connected but when you go to open the internet it says that internet explore was not able to connect to the internet. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

Update:

To the first person that asked, I am on a different computer.

I will try to change the settings for the internet.

First do you have Bonjour installed (its normally installed as part of Itunes or Quicktime)? If you do uninstall itunes, quicktime, and bonjour. Then test your internet connection and it should be fine, then just reinstall. Ive had bonjour to this to me before.

Second if its not Bonjour, go to a secondary computer and download malwarebytes, and put it on an external hard drive or flash drive. Then run it on the laptop. If its a virus it will solve your problem.

Well, it could be your internet acting up, it could be a virus that was created by a hacker (if that's the case then NO anti-virus software will pick it up as it is constantly changing it's infecting codes, especially if it is a worm or batch virus.) it could be just a normal virus, or just a hacker playing with your internet connectivity. I recommend that you get something besides that bull crap Windows Defender.

Hello, as someone already suggested, its a very good idea to run MalwareBytes.

Regarding the internet, I would try this.Open I.E ( you can also go to control panel > internet options )

Click on tools > internet options > connections > lan settings. Now, under the proxy settings part, untick the ' use proxy server box > ok '

    Hope this helps

it depends on the virus, if it was the 'vista anti-virus 2010', the same 1 i got, then it deletes the link between your icons and there commands, so you would have to finds the "Main" internet explorer program, and create a new link to it.

if the icon works and you still cant get on to the internet, well im not quite certain what to do then.

You need to use a different web browser to get rid of the virus or you will have to take it to the shop or get stuff to remove it. What you need to do is visit malwarebytes.org threw another web browser and download it and run a scan and follow the directions which is remove what it finds.

    HAHA

Format your computer reinstall your windows and obtain both a firewall and a virus scanner.

Or skip the windows install and install Slackware Linux, it is pretty prosauce.
