if i buy tivo (or dvr) in the states, will it work in canada?

i'm tempted to buy a tivo in states cause it's cheaper and bring it back home to canada. is there any reason that it won't work in Canada? Has anyone in canada done this?

    Basically yes.

The only catch is that Canadian providers do not provide Cablecards for the HD models, and the HD models do not support cable boxes; you need a Series 2 to use a cable box. Another concern may be that much of the additional content on the TiVO is not available in Canada, due to content rights issues.

I have Series 2 originally from the US, and it works just fine for my Canadian satellite provider.

it is going to artwork advantageous with only antenna, a great number of human beings use them that way. That TiVo has geared up in analog/digital tuners. you nonetheless elect a TiVo subscription with it, and that has a a million year dedication.

Ummm no it wont work because you have to have you service provide hook up it correctly to your cable for it to actually work. You also have to pay a monthly fee for having it!
