What are some good starter performance parts for my dirt bike?
I just bought a ktm 450 and was wondering what are some good starter performance parts for my dirt bike. "Good" meaning easy to install, somewhat reasonably priced but not too expensive, and can give me more performance for the buck. I just need somewhere to start, and then I can work my way into smaller more difficult things to tune up my dirt bike. Thanks

Sprockets, High flow air filter, high performance clutch, Pipe and header. Just go ask your local dealer they will hook you up.

Honestly man, if it is a fairly new KTM they come ready to race. You don't really need to add anything. The very best thing you could do is have someone like Factory Connection professionally valve and spring your suspension. There are lots of "bling" items you can get to make the bike look trick, but it really needs no help in performance. That bike is almost too fast as is, which is why KTM is racing the 350 rather than the 450 now. The KTM 450 is a freakin' beast.

If you could ride that 450 to its capability, then you would already know what to buy. Not trying to be sarcastic but consider this:
When I was a teen, I used to buy a national pro's MX bikes used. I had his year old practice bikes (RM125 and RM250's).
When I got the RM250 (2 stroke), he asked why I was getting a 250 instead of staying on the 125. I said I wanted more speed.
He asked me to come ride with him at his practice track. Even after I was on the 250 a couple of months, he proceeded to lap me every two laps, and he was using his 125 (and I was on a 250).
I had double the HP and he was kicking my butt.
That KTM is very fast, and I would bet that a pro would be able to lap you on a YZ125, which says that you should focus on riding technique rather than raw power. Power is a substitute for riding ability.
I currently have a RMZ250, and can easily stay with other guys at work that have YZ450's. Sometimes I am faster. They are only faster on long straight aways. On smaller tracks, I beat them.

Listen to ddrum as he is right. Most people don't and are not capable of using the power that their bike has standard but believe after market parts will make the bike better and faster but in reality all it does is make it more difficult for the rider to ride as they are not using what they already have. If you add after market parts then the bike has to be dialled into those parts or it is a waste of time putting them on. If you want to spend money then make sure your suspension is set up to suit you as that is the best money you can spend.

there only a hand full of riders in the world that can ride a stock 450 to its full potential. i would recomend spending money on suspension and other things that would make it handle better rather than things to make it have more horse power.
