why is Joe West still in the MLB?

Have you ever seen an umpire try harder to be apart of the game? There was absolutely no reason to eject Buehrle today, if you havent seen it yet here is video.

Update:

Bob, what about what you found on mlb.com says that Buehrle wasnt the "innocent lamb i said he was". What you found is that he threw his glove. which i already knew from the video

He sure has a quick trigger to eject players/managers. First off, neither of those calls were balks in the first place.

But what's bothering me is the Buehrle part. They had to be pretty bad if they got Buehrle mad because he is one of the most laid back players in the league.

Either way, it's Joe West's call and more importantly, the White Sox won!

No one knows what Buehrle may have said when he threw his glove. Or if it was to show that he wasn't happy with the runner being called "safe".

Okay, I just checked on mlb.com.

"First-base umpire Joe West ejected Buehrle in the third inning when Buehrle threw his glove after his second balk, but an inning later, the White Sox teed off against Jake Westbrook, setting up a 5-4 win Wednesday at Progressive Field."

So, you see, Buehrle was not the innocent lamb you all think he was.

    Looked like a solid ejection.

Buehrle was called for the balk and from Joe's angle he threw the glove in disgust. From the angle Joe was at which is 180 degrees from the pitcher he saw the glove hit the ground. He appeared to be blocked from the fact that it just appeared Buehrle was disgusted with himself and not the call.

So Joe takes heat for speaking his mind (and the truth) then gets grief for calling what he saw. At least rest will not be an issue with Buerhle's next start.

NOTE -- just watched the first and second balks on mlb.com. He was jawwing at West from the mound after the first one when Guillen came out to get dumped. That explains why the ejection was gonna happen if Buerhle did anything after a second balk, if any were to happen.

Normally I defend the umps a little bit. That have a difficult job and generally do it very well. However, in this case Joe West let it get personal. West has been a decent (but not great) ump in the past but this year his ego has finally consumed the last decent bits of him that remained.

I'm sure it'll be done quietly and behind the scenes but MLB will do something. Publicly they will support their umps but behind the scenes they will be "you dumb a$$, NEVER do that again, and here's $2000 fine to remind you". That game was on a nationally broadcast network and they can't allow umps to start thinking they are bigger than the game.

It's starting to feel more and more like the late 90s again with each ump calling a different strike zone and their big egos at times dictating how the game is played. Only this time I don't think all the umps will be dumb enough to resign en masse and give MLB the opportunity to clean it up.

What bothers me is that people so obviously think it's okay to show up an umpire. Doesn't matter if he jawed after the first call. Doesn't matter if he was disgusted at West, himself or what his wife made for breakfast yeasterday. Anyone with an inkling of knowledge of the game knows, you throw your glove, hat or anything after a call, you're gone....period, end of discussion. As for Ozzie Guillen, he's without doubt, the worst manager in baseball and tries to make up for his lack of managerial skills by arguing with the umpires to show how much he knows. He needs to develop the kind of class exhibited by Joe Maddon at Tampa Bay. When asked about being ejected and if he thought the umpire over-reacted, he responded, "Oh, no, I knew I was going, you can't argue balls and strikes."

i'm particular MLB could somewhat choose for to do away with West, and that i think of they did high-quality him final season. West did a Sunday nighttime sport and complained that the Yankees and purple Sox have been a shaggy dog tale for taking part in such long video games. If West knew what he became conversing approximately, he could have found out that gamers on the two a type of communities take distinctive pitches, so their video games have a tendency to be virtually 4 hours long. i'm no longer a Keith regulation fan, yet I had to chortle while he commented on West's feedback. He suggested that West is an interest-searching for ump who could be satisfied that the video games final long because of the fact it enables him to have the spotlight on himself longer. BTW, isn't West a wannabe united states of america singer besides?

So you think it's okay to throw a temper tantrum just because you disagree with the umpire's call. There are a couple of factors to consider here. First, the jawing which occurred after the first balk call, in which Guillen came out to defend Beuhrle and got himself tossed, led to the immediate reaction after the second balk when Beuhrle threw his glove in disgust. I don't believe for a second that Beurhle was just disgusted with himself. His tantrum was a pointed effort to show up Joe West, and he got just what he asked for. West dumped him, as any umpire would, in that situation. And we all know Ozzie isn't exactly known for his mannerly conversation with umpires -- or anyone else, for that matter. Guillen's lack of manners is eclipsed only by his blatant lack of skills as a manager, and he should have long since been removed from baseball.

According to Hawk Harrelson who is never wrong, West will be suspended 40 games. This is calculated by the number of times Hawk said he should be suspended (eight) times the usual 5 game suspension.

Remember the Hawk is never wrong.
