"sudden" 1 syllable or 2?
It sounds like a dipthong thing but I'm not sure. Any help? Thanks!

By the very nature of the way you have to say the word, it's 2 syllables. It's impossible to pronounce sudden as one.

2. You can judge by the amount of verb sounds in a word. Sudden has two, the 'uh' (U) and the 'eh (E).
