IMHO, a photography degree is good as a second major, but not as a primary.
It's along the same lines as getting any arts degree, the degree isn't always going to get you a job.
The best combination is a business major and photo minor, that way you can get a job with a business major as a fallback. As a photographer with a business major, you have a better chance of operating a successful business in photography.

working with jerks who don't know how to stop their auto flash pop up or turn off AF illumination at theater shows. Beeps and orange lights and $7000 cameras on auto. That's what you can look forward to being around after all your hard work.
