LDS deep question; Abraham, Joseph, Egypt and the Black LDS community?

More of a discussion question then one that I think there is an answer to:

The Book of Abraham records that Egypt was founded by the Canaanites who were descendants of Ham, Noah's son. And Pharaoh in particular was descendant of Ham. It is traditionally held (although not in cannon that I can find, if it's there please point it out for me) that Ham's wife was Black, and this is supported by the Nubian Influence in Egypt that moved to the rest of Africa.

Joseph of technicolor dream coat fame was only a 3rd generation descendant of Abraham, and he married an Egyptian wife given to him by Pharaoh.

Is there enough evidence to suggest that Joseph's wife might have been Black? And what repercussions would that have?

According to the 'book of Joseph' Joseph's wife was not of hamitic descent - rather, her father was a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

May I recommend you read Cleon Skousen's Thousand Year series - it delves into some of this. The Book of Joseph is a more recent discovery than Skousen had available, but has been discussed by John Gee and others.

people who observed the papyri that Joseph translated stated that it could desire to be stretched out right into a pair of rooms. additionally, they stated that it contained colour. The fragments that we've do not journey what the witnesses stated they observed. Therfore, those that have been preserved weren't those that have been used for the e book of Abraham. i won't undergo in techniques the place I study this yet curiously, it replaced right into a client-friendly practice for the ancients to characteristic some thing like the e book of the lifeless to some thing else. in certainty now and back they used one papyri to describe another journey. The Prophet Joseph Smith replaced into commisioned to translate the information. No different prophet has been given this duty or ability. the well-known-day prophets are careful to not officialy say some thing that has not been revealed by ability of God. as a result, that's as much as the pupils to unofficially communicate those products. i'm fifty 9 years previous yet by ability of the character of the questions being asked right here i'm getting the thought maximum folk in this web site are immature gossipy teen agers. Am I actual?

Interesting food for thought. I'll have to look into that one.

Still, while we don't have any concrete proof about the skin color of Ham's wife, it wouldn't have mattered if she was black. Skin color has never mattered, and though we do believe certain individuals were cursed with a dark skin in order to set them apart, that curse only applied to those specific individuals. If their children were rejected, it would only have been because they, in turn, rejected God's teachings, not because they'd inherited a shallow physical feature. Regardless of her skin color, if Ham's wife was not accepted by his father, it would have been because she wasn't living by God's commandments.

...so while I can't give an answer concerning Joseph's wife, I can say that there wouldn't have been repercussions over her skin color. Didn't Moses also marry a woman from Ethiopia? His sister was actually cursed with leprosy for objecting. God doesn't judge by skin color, obviously.

It seems to me that Ham wasn't cursed as to the priesthood because of his wife, but because he disrespected his father. That would make skin color just a coincidence, if it was inherited through his wife.

Ephraim received the blessing of leadership from Jacob. As a member of the tribe of Ephraim, I have no problem with the ancestry of Joseph's wife or her race. I view her just as Ruth, the Moabite, to be women who trusted in God and were loyal to their families.

There is no proof that Ham's wife was black. And Joseph's wife, being Egyptian no doubtedly had dark skin but she was Egyptian, not black. Did you know that Joseph Smith wrote that black people were black because of their sin? How can anyone believe someone who made a statement like that could be a prophet of God? Not to mention, no one's ever seen those gold plates. And what about the DNA testing on Native American's that prove they are NOT descendant from the Jews as the book of Mormon states, but from the Asians, in particular, the Mongolians?
