Need help for learning JAVA?
I am looking for a Core Java eBook / CBT / Web content that I can use for self learning in my free time. I have little programming knowledge, learned C a long time back and forgot everything. Should be easy to follow without an instructor
It should have some exercises to practice, because I know that only that can help me learn it better.
Can you please help.

I would strongly suggest reading Head First Java. From O Reilly Media written by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.
The book clearly explains all the core fundamentals in a very interactive way and has fun exercises which really help in understanding the language

It is easy, but start with the basics. In fact, a great place to start is with a book that targets C/C++ programmers. There are a handful of conceptual differences between java and C so the sooner you get your head around those concepts the faster you'll grasp everything else. I've heard good things about "C++ for Java Programmers" (see link) but never read it myself. Once you get the language basics then you can start expanding your knowledge by learning about the enterprise APIs. J2EE (now called Java EE) is huge. EJB is good know, but start with Session Beans and then jump to Java Persistence API instead of the EJB 1.x/2.x Entity Beans. Servlets are easy pretty simple, and JSP/JSF are much easier to learn if you have a project in mind. Good luck
