Where do u think Oswalt will land?

So much speculation, talk, and verbal interest by Oswalt to be traded, but where do u think he will end up and why? Which team do you think he would fit best?

I am thinking Mets, Nationals, Cards, Diamondbacks, and even the much improved Padres SP staff....that is, if he leaves at all....Mets could no doubt use him to their struggling pitching staff, and with their offense, once it gets in a continuous, consistent flow, should contend with Philly....Natonals dont only have a respectable pitching staff already but when Stasburg comes up finally, if they can get another awesome arm, and bat, might be there at the end....Padres more so need power in their line up but another arm surely wouldnt hurt their dominance....thing is Oswalt needs to stay in NL....thoughts?

I THINK that he'll land with the Dodgers or Mets.

I HOPE that he'll end up with the Twins. They have everything necessary to compete for a pennant, except for a third baseman and a proven ace. And they are no longer a "small market" team, so taking on some salary wouldn't be such an issue.

I KNOW he won't end up on the Cardinals or Cubs, because the Astros won't trade a star to a division rival.

I DOUBT that he'll end up with the Yankees or Red Sox. Despite the fact that those two are always willing to shell out money for a big star, neither team really has any big issues with their rotations. Both teams need hitters more than pitchers.

Oswalt has a no-trade clause, this means he will go to a contending team. That immediately strikes out the Mets, Nationals, Diamondbacks and Padres. Don't get me wrong, some of those teams have a shot at the playoffs, but Oswalt wants more than a shot. He wants a proven, playoff contender that has a good chance at going deep. So you're looking at Dodgers/Angels/Cardinals/Twins/Yankees/Red Sox/Phillies/Rays.

Now of those teams, who has both the need, the ability and the desire for an expensive elite ace? Scratch the Red Sox/Yankees/Rays/Phillies/Cardinals. While all those teams might have an interest, I doubt they have a need so great that it would necessitate trading off a handful of prospects and taking on a massive contract. That leaves the Twins, Dodgers and Angels. I don't think the Twins have the ability to pay Oswalt after shelling out a fortune for Mauer. So the two favorites would be the LA teams, Dodgers and Angels.

That analysis aside, it's possible Oswalt would accept a trade to a 'hot' team like the Padres/Braves/Reds. They're not proven contenders, but they might be hot enough to convince him. If there's not enough of a market from the big boys, he could slide to one of those teams.

mets... no... who are they gonna trade and how are they going to pay him?

nationals... no... they have a lot of good young pitching coming up and they will not be contenders come august...

cardinals... they legitimately have 4 ace-quality pitchers... as sweet as having 5 aces would be, they don't have the $$ to pay Oswalt

Diamondbacks... why would a 3rd worst team in the NL be looking to trade for an ace? they will be unloading this year...

Padres... out of who you named, they are the most likely to get him... I'm not sure who the Padres have on their farm to get him, but anything is possible...

I was gonna say the Cubs love aging veterans and that seems just like the type of trade they would make but #1 they won't contend #2 he won't be traded within the division

my short list of teams would be: Padres, Rangers, Braves and you can never count the Yankees and Red Sox out of it, but I don't think the Red Sox have $$ to get him... they've been trying to be responsible lol...

I never understand this. You write out all your words and for the most part have respectable grammar and spelling, yet still use the fake word "u" as if dropping the "yo" has some how saved you a lot of time. Why do this? Most people over age of 25 have no respect for morons who write like this. It's the sign of the idiot. If you're going to take the time and trouble to write out the rest of your words, why not write like an adult the whole way, instead of a part-adult, part illiterate child?

    Hope this helps.

He might be a good fit with the Twins, who certainly have the bait necessary to trade for him. It will be interesting to see who gets Oswalt and how much it costs to get him.

The Houston Astros claim hes not being moved, but they'll do their best to unload his salary.

I think he's seen his better days, and is on the down slope of his career. I hope the Mets don't bite this time. They need to get younger.
