How many different countries can you name players from?

You must name a country, and then a CURRENT MLB player from that country. Let's see how many different countries people can come up with.

    Current? Darn. Ok:

    US-Derek Jeter

    Canada-Justin Morneau

    Cuba-Livan Hernandez

    Dominican Republic-David Ortiz

    Panama-Mariano Rivera

    Mexico-Adrian Gonzalez

    Australia-Grant Balfour

    Netherlands-Andruw Jones (well, Netherlands Antilles)

    Japan-Ichiro Suzuki

    Taiwan-Chien-Ming Wang

    South Korea-Shin-Soo Choo

    Germany-Ron Gardenhire (manager, but...)

    Venezuela- Omar Vizquel

    Colombia-Orlando Cabrera (also shares my birthdate-Nov. 2)

    Puerto Rico-the Molina Brothers

Source(s): I know. But PR got it's own status in the World Baseball Classic. If you asked China, Taiwan isn't a country, either- and if you asked Taiwan, they would say Taiwan wasn't a country, but that they are the REAL Chinese govt, in exile. Anyway.

    Australia- Grant Balfour

    Canada- Jason Bay

    Panama- Mariano Rivera

    Cuba- Jose Contreras

    USA - A gazillion guys

    Dominican Republic - David Ortiz

    Canada - Justin Morneau

    Venezuela - Omar Vizquel

    Colombia - Edgar Renteria

    Panama - Mariano Rivera

Aruba (or Curucao?) - Andruw Jones

    Cuba - Livan Hernandez

    Japan - Ichiro

South Korea - Chan Ho Park

    Taiwan - Shin Soo Choo

    Mexico - Adrian Gonzalez

Edit: Looking this up after I posted, I'm wrong about Choo, he was born in Korea. Chien Ming Wang would have been a better choice who is actually from Taiwan.

@Nate: I questioned whether or not to include a Puerto Rican for that very reason but its a bit of a gray area. The flip side of the argument though is that Puerto Rico and the Netherlands Antilles compete as separate nations in international sports (and have done so since the 1940s and 50s). e.g. PR has its own soccer team that tries to qualify for the World Cup and sends its own team of athletes to the Olympics, separate from Team USA.

    United States: Joe Mauer

    Canada: Justin Morneau

    Venezuela: Johan Santana

    Netherlands/Aruba: Sidney Ponson

    Panama: Mariano Rivera

    Taiwan: Chien Min Wang

    South Korea: Chan Ho Park

    Japan: Ichiro Suzuki

    Mexico: Dennis Reyes

    Dominican Republic: Albert Pujols

    Cuba: Livan Hernandez

    Australia: Luke Hughes

    I got 12.

****NetsMets, Masternacho, and others: Puerto Rico is NOT a country. It's part of the United States. So Angel Pagan is actually an American.

Also, Curacao and Aruba are actually owned by the Netherlands. So they aren't really separate countries either.
