It was 20 years ago today that The Stone Roses played Spike Island,so i wanna know.....?

have you witnessed any moments of music history? Queen at Live Aid in '85? The Sex Pistols at The Lesser Free Trade Hall in '76?

For the record, Spike Island wasn't as great as folk might think-the sound was terrible, the support acts rubbish and it signalled the beginning of the end for The Stone Roses, but i'm glad i was the right age at the right time to be able to witness a wee bit of history......

it was a great day for all who were there James.

(as I'm sure you know you grumpy ol' £$%7.......)

    The weather.

    The buzz.

    The vibe.

    The excitement.

    The optimism.

I was sixteen, at my second gig, down the near the front, and it sounded great for me.

During the day listening to other acts, and i was aware of the wind blowing the sound around,

but i've had that plenty times since at festivals.

But i also have very clear memories of Jah Wobbles performance in the afternoon,

when people stopped jumping around because they're rib-cages were rattling with the bass.

Yes, the sound could've been better, but that's life.

Let's just hope they do finally releasse the doovde, (but that might not be till their old manager is six feet under and can't make any profit on it.......)

    Great memories for me.

    fritzy
