New Figure Skates Help?!?

Hi, I am a figure skater currently working on my axel, camel and layback spins and other things. I plan to stick with skating for a long time, but my skates hurt my feet (I have Jackson Freestyle skates with Mark IV blades). I really want to get Riedell 1310 LS skates, which are lightweight and make my feet feel amazing (i tried them on!). They would be really really reeeaallyy expensive if I got a new blade and boot, so I was thinking of taking my current blade and putting them on the Riedells. My coach said that would be okay. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it a good idea? Does it cost much to take the blade off of my current skate and put it on a new one? Please help me! Thanks.

It is perfectly okay to put your old blade on your new skates. It should only cost $15-$40 to have blades mounted. A couple things to consider though, the life left in the blade and the level of the blade. Also as mentioned, the size of the blade, they may not fit. Have your blades checked by a skate technician to see if they are worth putting on new boots, there may not be much sharpening life left in them. When it comes to the soles on boots, fewer sets of holes are better and it is not generally the best idea to replace the blade soon after the old blades are mounted. You would have to have the holes plugged and redrilled and the new screws may not me anchored in strong enough. Also consider the level of the blade, it should be of similar level as the boots you are putting them on. The 1310LS are for ISI freestyle 3-5 which axels are on freestyle 5 and you would need to replace them soon and I wouldn't suggest using your blades because are probably not good enough for axels or would also need to be replaced soon.

You may want to consider the 435TS or the 875TS if you like Riedell skates.

    Blades:

    Vision (MK)

    Professional (MK)

    Lite (Jackson)

    Legacy (Jackson)

    Protege (Jackson

I recommend that you buy Harlick. It's just like Riedell too. You should buy Harlick High Tester. It lasts long about Freestyle 4-9 (ISI). You are able to do doubles there too. :) If it hurts your feet, maybe you need a new size. Also, new boot size means new blade size. You can't stick to your old blade, I have the same skates like yours but I'm changing to Harlick. That's only from levels of Freestyle 1-4 (ISI). Harlick has a reasonable price also, Riedell and SP-Teri skates has some malfunction with making their boots these days. Also, for the blade, you should buy MK Gold Star Blades. If your a toe-pusher (you push with your toe-pick.) You should buy MK Gold Star K-Pick Blade. If you're not a toe-pusher, buy the regular one.
