3 AnswersIce Skating1 decade agoFigure Skating Fitness Plan?
Hi, so I'm a figure skater in freestyle 5-6. I've just recovered from my second injury this year and am about to get back into skating. I do not want to get injured again and fear this happening. I feel like I'm not doing enough off-ice training and I'm confused as to what is needed. I would like to come up with a fitness plan. If you are a skater, what activities do you do off-ice to stay in shape and how often? Please help
6 AnswersIce Skating1 decade agoWhat are the benefits of USFSA?
So I've been skating for a while now and my coach wants me to start testing USFSA. I'm in ISI Freestyle 5 and I've began working on the pre-pre field moves, they're not that hard. Anyways, I know that USFSA is a lot more expensive than ISI and I was wondering what exactly the perks of being in USFSA are? Can I put this on a college application? If I test up to senior moves could I skate on a synchro college team? Is testing scary? Are people nice on club ice? Please help me!
1 AnswerIce Skating1 decade agoNew Figure Skates Help?!?
Hi, I am a figure skater currently working on my axel, camel and layback spins and other things. I plan to stick with skating for a long time, but my skates hurt my feet (I have Jackson Freestyle skates with Mark IV blades). I really want to get Riedell 1310 LS skates, which are lightweight and make my feet feel amazing (i tried them on!). They would be really really reeeaallyy expensive if I got a new blade and boot, so I was thinking of taking my current blade and putting them on the Riedells. My coach said that would be okay. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it a good idea? Does it cost much to take the blade off of my current skate and put it on a new one? Please help me! Thanks.
