Question for Muslims: does the Qur'an make any prophecies other than about the end of the world?

I'm just curious if the Qur'an makes any prophetic statements? If so, have any of these prophecies been fulfilled yet?

Thanks!

Update:

Some great answers here, thank you! I especially appreciate the people who have posted links -- I will read those carefully. And one person here (I'm not naming names) does not need to be lecturing everyone else, *especially* in all capital letters. Please be civil.

While the Qur'an does prophesied that the book will be protected till the end of the day, the Qur'an doesn't make any OTHER prophecies aside from the world will end.

I dont think you will find much prophecies in the Quran except a few.But you will find many prophecies in the Hadith ( the Muslim Holy Books Collections equivalent to the Bible).

As for the Quran, there was some verses revealed to Muhammad regarding the Roman Byzantine Empire.

At that time the Persian(representing as non believer) army had won the battle against Roman Christians(representing the believer) and the Meccan polytheists(non believer) made a mockery out of it, imlying that Allah was not with the believers.

To comfort the early Muslims,Allah revealed that the Roman will win again over the Persian and later will lose for the second time to the Muslims. Both of these prophecies were fulfilled.

A skeptic put a bet with Umar on these verses and Umar, upon consulting the prophet, asked for a longer time. Finally, it was on the 8th years after these revelations that Umar had won the bet.

I asked this same question about a month ago and got only a couple of answers...and they weren't very helpful. Apparently the Qu'ran doesn't have very much to say about end time prophecies.

Hopefully, you will get a better response than I did....Blessings!

According to the Arabic source The Book of Revelation, Muḥammad answered, “I do not know how to read.” Therefore, he had to memorize the revelations so that he could repeat and recite them. The Arabs were skilled in the use of memory, and Muḥammad was no exception. How long did it take for him to receive the complete message of the Qur’ān? It is generally believed that the revelations came during a period of some 20 to 23 years, from about 610 C.E. to his death in 632 C.E.

What is said to have been Muḥammad’s first revelation? (Compare Revelation 22:18, 19.)

Yes, the Quran revealed, as I prefer to use, rather than terming it prophesised, about the rise and fall of the Roman Empires and the drying of the River Nile.

There are many other Revelations about the future and it's best that you read them yourself.

    Peace.

Quran had predicted the defeat of Iranians by Romans within 10 years and it happened. Quran declared

Islam will become the predominant religion of the Arabian peninsula and it did. Muhammad SAW sent

message of peace to King of Iran and he tore it apart. Muhammad SAW said, they have themselves torn apart and now there will be no Kisra (Iranian family of kings). And it happened. He also said there

army of Muslims will takeover Istanbul from Romans and it happened 400 years after him. He also

advised his followers to be kind to Egyptians, when they conquer Egypt, as they were their cousins. And Muslims took over Egypt in less than 20 years, after him.

There are numerous such predictions which came true.

    [17:4]

And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness.

    [17:5]

So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled.

    [17:6]

Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower

    [17:7]

[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.

    [17:8]

[Then Allah said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."

Yap. It tells about how the world will end.

Most of the theories about how the world will end are in agreement to what the Quran says.
