What do you think about President Obama going to Chicago for Memorial Day?
From what I have read the President is going on a vacation to Chicago this week-end instead of being at Arlington Cemetery to honor the service people who have died in various wars. Does this seem right to you?

not at all he should definatly be at Arlington to honor our fallen. Thats what memorial day is all about not just BBQ's. Some of the choices he makes are rediculous. He will prolly go to China for the 4th of July

He is going to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois on Memorial Day. "The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery lies in the northwestern area of the former Joliet Army Ammunition Plant, approximately 50 miles south of Chicago. Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery is named after the 16th President of the United States and founder of the National Cemeteries. In the midst of the Civil War, on July 17, 1862 President Lincoln's signature enacted the law authorizing the establishment of national cemeteries "... for the soldiers who die in the service of the country." During the Civil War there were 14 national cemeteries opened pursuant of this legislation."
There are 400,000 burial spaces at this cemetery.
So he IS going to honor the service of people who have died in various wars.
I guess Rush, Glenn or Sean, etc. forgot to tell you that.

He's going to speak at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Chicago. It's a veterans' cemetary, so it is a suitable location for a Memorial Day speech.
Also, he is not the first president not to be at Arlington on Memorial Day.
This is non-issue.

It's ok with me as long as he wears an American flag lapel pin or puts his hand over his heart during the national anthem!
To please most people all one has to do is create the perception that one cares- like the simple act of wearing a pin somehow means or makes you love America more?
I have found that often an outward display is merely a distraction to cover the real motives of the individual. For Example, why did Rep Mark Foley always, in every instance, vote against gay rights and benefits- and then get caught propositioning another man for sex in an airport restroom? Or more recently Rep Mark Souder made a video about abstinence- costarring the woman he was having an extramarital affair with!
A TRUE patriot has a pure heart, which you cannot see. A TRUE patriot, like Obama, doesn't need to prove his respect for veterans by showing up at a graveyard, rather, he will solemnly remember their service to our great nation in the privacy of his close friends and family.
Plus it's probably too much of a security risk to have him there, if you want to be more rational about it ;)
On another note, I find it much more insulting that a fake patriot would parade around pretending to appreciate the service of our veterans- for example Dick Cheney, a war monger who himself never served a day, in fact received 5---that's right 5 draft deferments to avoid military service!!
Image isn't everything- and perception isn't reality!

Well, that seems a bit unpatriotic...
