On the contrary, I think it's just the opposite, though I have to admit I've only read one Ray Bradbury book - "Fahrenheit 451." It seems to that Ray Bradbury is more social commentary than sci-fi.
Jules Verne, on the other hand wrote incorporated real science in his works, especially in "From the Earth to the Moon." Jules Verne did his research so well that his predictions turned out to be uncannily accurate. He correctly predicted that the U. S. would lead the space race (the U. S. did win the space race, even though it was a war-torn country at the time). Specifically he predicted the location of the launch site for lunar explorations: Florida (today Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center are located in Florida). He predicts that Texas will compete with Florida as the launch site location (Houston Space Center is in Texas). He names his rocket Columbiad (Columbia was the name of the Apollo 11 command module). He predicted that the lunar missions would be executed by a three man crew (the Apollo missions were all three-man crews, Apollo 11 being Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins).
