Circumcision aftercare, baby not peeing?

hi everyone. so this question is for anyone who has had their son circumcised. i got my two month old baby circumcised about 4 days ago and apart from the pain i havnt noticed anything unusual until this morning. i noticed some bleeding (not a lot, maybe a tiny drop). and also my son hasnt peed since his last diaper change (which was about 5 hours ago). i have had the doctor who did the circumcision paged n im waiting for a call, but in the meantime i need to ease my paranoia.

Update:

first off i did NOT ask for your opinions about circumcision......that was a personal, cultural and religious decision. so keep ur comments about it to urself. for everybody who gave me USEFUL answers, thank you.

Could he have peed and the diaper absorbed it so you didn't notice it? Has he been drinking normally? If he's been drinking normally and hasn't peed for 5 hours that is cause for concern and your paranoia is well-founded, calling the doctor is what you should have done (which you did) so now all you can do is wait and see.

Add: Do NOT submerge the newly circumcised penis in water. That would be very dangerous and painful to him. However a warm bath on his legs may help... I do know some babies have peed just with a little warm water. Just keep it away from the penis.

Male infant or child genital mutilation (circumcision) is a human rights violation.

There is no "religious reason" to have a 2 month old "circumcised" by a "doctor" , that is not a religious ritual mutilation.

What ever your "religion" is, perhaps you should learn about what it really requires.. Hopefully you will have to have your left ear sliced off, and the little toe of your right foot.

The inability to pass urine is a very serious complication of male genital mutilation, this situation requires very prompt medical care.

Did you know that in the US, neonatal male genital mutilation complications cause as many deaths as sudden infant death syndrome? It does, it causes 1.3 percent of infant deaths in the first 28 days, just like SIDs does.

He probably won't be eating for a while either, because he's in so much pain. I'm sure he'll appreciate having the most sensitive part of his penis removed.

You're right, circumcision is a personal decision...for the person who OWNS the body. I've never heard of a "religious" circumcision at 2 months old.

This could be a very serious issue. Circumcision causes all sorts of damage to the penis, including obstruction of the urethra. This can kill your baby, as it has with many others. If your son continues to be unable to pee you need to take him to the hospital. If I were you I would have already taken him in, but then again, I wouldn't have circumcised my son in the first place because I know how harmful and dangerous it is.

Honestly, why people circumcise babies when it's a completely useless and ALWAYS harmful procedure, I'll never know.

His body is in shock, still, from the horrible mutilation perpetrated on him.

Try getting a female circumcision done to yourself, and see how you feel. I highly doubt that you would like your own genitals carved up, permanently mutilated and scarred.

You asked about opinions of the consequences; this is only a part of them.

The injuries to your child are permanent. Circumcision has no standards and is frequently sloppily done and/or botched. I have never heard of even one case of a doctor disclosing the adverse effects and consequences of male genital mutilation, nor of even one case of giving adequate aftercare information.

Damaging a child's genitals doesn't improve them in any way; it damages sexual feeling, function and ability. I know; it was forced on me, also, as an infant. I will never forgive my parents for the mutilation.

Circumcision is a fraud and a hoax.

A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.

Well him not peeing is not a good thing so there is nothing I can say to ease your paranoia.

Just wait for the doctor to call you back. If it's longer than an hour then try talking to a nurse.

Poor baby boy though. Should ave just been left alone.

Source(s): You did not make a personal decision. Personal means for your person, it's not your body or your penis. There was nothing personal about it. Plus your son doesn't have a religion at this point so that's no excuse either. It's still his body regardless of the decision. I understand that you are only defending your choice for your child because you believe it's best but your intentions don't change the fact that it's wrong to alter another persons body without their permission. I understand my parents had good intenstions, doesn't mean I don't resent them for the loss and damage they caused me.

5 hours is not something you have to worry about. 5 days yes, 5 hours, no.

You could put him in a bath of warm water without any bubble bath or soap, and he may pee there.
