what is a good gift for a cancer patient doing chemo?

My grandma has cancer and I just found out today the doctor wants her in a hospice. I want to get her a really nice giftbasket or anything that will make her feel happy we are thinking of her. She's not very religious but what do you think are good ideas? Please tell me where I can get them. Thanks!!!!!

One thing that I have learned about seriously ill people is that they do not care a heck of a lot about stuff. The best gift that you can give her is your presence. Framed family photos are nice, too.

I agree with Tarkarri that a soft, snuggly cover would be nice and can be found at most department stores. At Barnes & Nobel, or most book stores you can get an audio book by a favorite author to listen to. Have someone come to her to "do" her hair and a pedicure. Maybe she would enjoy a night at a B&B with you, in the country or near the beach or in the city and go to a play. Stay away from food and anything with a scent as either may trigger nausea. But most of all hugs and holding hands.

Maby get her something really interesting to read?

Please read through my website.. Chemotherapy is not as the doctors make it sound.

The chances of surviving chemotherapy is under 3% and patients who do not treat their cancer with anything have a higher rate of success for living and even live longer.

There are heating blankets that have rice in them and you can warm them up. Their really nice because chemo gives the chills. Or, maybe even a electric blanket. That was my favorite gift when I went through it. I used it, a lot.

A really soft, snuggly throw rug. So she can feel the love of her family wrapped around her even when too tired for visitors.
