What would you rather have them do?

Some of the testimonies from the commandos who bordered the 6th ship have been published. Hopefully they'll soon appear in international news as well. But for now, quoting them..

"We felt like in a lynch in Ramallah. We went down there with bare arms, carrying only paint-ball weapons"

"We were prepared for no violence and that those measures would suffice. As soon as we roped down, we were 15 fighters and they were over 30 on the rooftop waiting for us. They came for war, they charged at us and threw some of the soldiers to the level below. Some of the soldiers jumped into the water in fear of being jumped again. We didn't expect this, we came with no weapons except our personal pistol which was supposed to be a last resort."

"It's 'funny' to think this was our attitude towards the situation - We understood we are coming to talk and not to fight. Each of us got jumped by 3-4 people and as a last resort I took out my pistol and shot them in the legs, as I knew the goal is to neutralize them. As soon as we went down the rope, one of the passengers tied it to one of the irons in order to disrupt the helicopter."

"They tried to kidnap anyone who went down unto the ship and take our weapons. During the struggle, we clearly identified someone was shooting us from within the ship."

So I wonder - How were they supposed to react during this lynch attempt? Were they to wave flowers or just be quiet and silently get murdered by this brutal group of savages?
