  • How can anyone be so cruel?

I just watched another video of how that group of savages brutally attacked the Israeli soldiers, who in similar to the other 5 boats, peacefully dropped onto the deck to escort the vehicle to the Ashdod port to unload the supplies and transfer them to Gaza while putting the passengers on a plane back home.

How can anyone be so cruel?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYjkLUcbJWo

It's a shame the soldiers waited so long[according to the orders given to them] before employing live fire in self defence. I can only wish them fast recovery.. I can't imagine how it's like to drop onto the ship to escort it to shore and then get beaten and stabbed by these animals.

  • Aerial night footage of the Israeli boarding?

For those who have trouble analyzing this type of footage, there's descriptions of what you're seeing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU12KW-XyZE

So that is it - Some released footage of the brutal lynching the Israeli commandos were subject to as soon as they landed on that ship. Personally I find it horrid and am surprised the commandos managed to wait until the last minute before using their weapons in self-defence. Your opinion..?

    8 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade ago
  • What would you rather have them do?

Some of the testimonies from the commandos who bordered the 6th ship have been published. Hopefully they'll soon appear in international news as well. But for now, quoting them..

"We felt like in a lynch in Ramallah. We went down there with bare arms, carrying only paint-ball weapons"

"We were prepared for no violence and that those measures would suffice. As soon as we roped down, we were 15 fighters and they were over 30 on the rooftop waiting for us. They came for war, they charged at us and threw some of the soldiers to the level below. Some of the soldiers jumped into the water in fear of being jumped again. We didn't expect this, we came with no weapons except our personal pistol which was supposed to be a last resort."

"It's 'funny' to think this was our attitude towards the situation - We understood we are coming to talk and not to fight. Each of us got jumped by 3-4 people and as a last resort I took out my pistol and shot them in the legs, as I knew the goal is to neutralize them. As soon as we went down the rope, one of the passengers tied it to one of the irons in order to disrupt the helicopter."

"They tried to kidnap anyone who went down unto the ship and take our weapons. During the struggle, we clearly identified someone was shooting us from within the ship."

So I wonder - How were they supposed to react during this lynch attempt? Were they to wave flowers or just be quiet and silently get murdered by this brutal group of savages?

  • Taking a moment from all the Israel-bashing taking place here.. who is actually right and wrong?

Please take a moment to read before you reply as I'm quite dumbfounded by what I'm reading here and would like to see some actual explanations as to your opinions.

From the little information available - Five of the six boats in the flotilla all agreed to cooperate and were escorted to an Israeli port where the goods they were carrying would be checked and then transferred to Gaza while the passengers themselves would be on a plane back to their home country courtesy of the Israeli tax payer.

The 6th boat however was carrying members of IHH, an organization known for being a front for recruiting and financing terrorism, according to a Danish report(http://www.diis.dk/graphics/Publications/WP2006/DI...

When the Israeli soldiers peacefully boarded the 6th boat, the activists on it were already prepared in advance with a variety of cold weapons to attack the Israeli soldiers. As the mass began attacking the Israeli soldiers, the IDF had no choice but to open fire to prevent the brutal killing of several of its soldiers. A fight erupted resulting in countless injured on both sides, just as the members of IHH hoped to achieve.

It's quite clear who the aggressors are and who were forced to attack back, so I must ask - Are some people on here so blinded by their hatred towards Israel that they actually justify an unprovoked attack by the IHH which resulted in numerous casualties just so they can find another excuse to bash on Israel?

    P.S.

This is not a discussion as to the justification of the blockade which prevents weapons from reaching Hamas through sea, but rather asking for an explanation as to why some people support the assailants in this incident while condemning those who had to use force to defend themselves.

  • When will the Palestinians accept Israel's request of establishing a Palestinian state?

Throughout the years, Palestinians rejected the establishment of a Palestinian state time and time again since it means they'd have to sign peace with Israel. The peak of this process was in Camp david 2000 summit when Palestinians were offered the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem and rejected it since it meant they can't attack Israel anymore.

Today Netanyahu, known for his right-wing policies stated that if the world can guarantee the security of Israel and Palestinians accept Israel as a Jewish state - Israel will accept to establish a Palestinian independent state.

Simple demand - Recognize Israel as a Jewish state and disarm[Not that there's anything to disarm them from - Since like so many claim - Palestinian only have "stones and fireworks", right?] and you can get an independent state.

The Palestinians responded as usually - "We will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state". Even if it means the establishment of a Palestinian state. The responses of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were worse.

When will the Palestinians leaders start caring about the civilians on both sides and accept Israel's attempts to establish a Palestinian state?

  • Is it now wrong to shoot a terrorist?

During the destruction of the house of a suicide terrorists[A procedure Israel adopted in some cases lately to discourage suicide bombers], a Palestinian 20 year old attempted to run over the police officers and construction workers assigned to the task, wounding 3 in the process. The police shot and killed him before he managed to injure others.

Now, several Arab prime ministers in Israel are criticizing the police for being "too quick on the trigger", shooting down a terrorist while he's a major threat to them. The Mukhtar of the village where this occured called this "a cold-blooded murder". Isn't this absurd? Will there ever be a limit to anti-Israeli criticism and bias?

  • Isn't this the best Israelies-Palestinians related joke you've heard?

Some might consider it a somewhat loaded topic, and consequently - a loaded joke, so if you can't see any humor in joking about serious politics events, read no further:

A fly falls into a cup of coffee.

The polite Englishman throws away the cup and walks off.

The macho American throws away the fly and proceeds to drink the coffee.

The average Chinese eats the fly and throws away the coffee.

The scheming Israeli sells the coffee to the American, the fly to the Chinese and then buys a new cup of coffee.

The Palestinian blames the Israeli of throwing the fly into his coffee, asks the UN and EU for aid to buy new coffee, uses the money to purchase explosives and then blows up the coffeehouse where the American, English and Chinese are trying to explain to the Israeli he's being way too aggressive.

  • How well informed are you in regard to middle east news? Does the media filter news due to bias?

I've had a discussion with a friend about the way the media reports the middle east conflict, one side claiming that they are extremely biased in favor of the Palestinians and the other saying it's not that bad.

Every bad move Israel does is reported all over the media. However, I have 4 newsbits for you from the Israeli side, my question is - How many of them have you heard about on the news?

    1. Israel has been removing dozens of checkpoints in the West Bank over the past few months to allow the Palestinians more freedom of movement, by not stopping them for security purposes in those checkpoints which got removed. This peaceful gesture allowed what happened in points 2, 3 and 4.

    2. two weeks ago - a group of Palestinians stopped along the side of the road and faked a car malfunction. When 2 Israeli policemen stopped to help them, they shot the police officers in the head and escaped.

    3. 10 days ago, a palestinian put a car wired with explosives inside a busy mall. Luckily, the police managed to circumvent this terrorist attack.

    4. Today, a Palestinian entered a Jewish city and began hitting the citizens with an axe. Among the injured, there is a 7 year old who was hit in the head and a 13 year old killed.

My question is - Have you actually heard of all 4 events on the news? Was it covered as sufficiently as events happening in Gaza/West Bank get covered? And what do you think of it all?

  • What's the most noteworthy thing to happen to you today?

As for me - A terrorist attack was thwarted when the police discovered a car bomb with multiple explosive devices inside it at the mall I visit most often. Ironically, that happened while I'm reading about how evil Israel treats the poor and innocent Palestinians badly by not allowing them free border passage into Israel.

How about you? Anything interesting happen today?

  • Am I the only one who feels that..?

Am I the only one who feels that if I hear one more time that "a group of people who intentionally targets civilians using suicide bombings or rockets and calls for an entire nation's destruction is not a terrorist group but a group of 'Freedom fighters'" and that "a country which responds to a terror attack, be it an airplane flying into a building, a bus exploding or rockets shot on the country isn't defending itself but is a 'terrorist country' which attacks innocents", I'll grab the nearest heavy object and hit that person across the face?

  • What are the stances of the Israeli extreme-right wing?

"Avigdor Lieberman" is a zionist Israeli politician and holds the 3rd biggest party in the parliament after receiving much support in the public voting. He has been defined by the world media as "an Israeli Extreme right wing" and in the arab media as "The most right wing". Some even refered to him as a racist and a fascist.

As he apparently represents the extreme-right wing of Israel, can you tell me what is his stance regarding the Palestinians/Peace/the Palestinian state? Please - Base it only on facts/reliable sources.

  • What is up with Britain lately?

A bit long but I had to explain what I'm asking about.

Some support Israel's recent defensive operation, some say they should have just shut up and let Hamas bomb their civilians. Each one is entitled to his opinion, but seriously, what is up with what I see on the news during the past week?

    * First, Britain announced an academic boycott on Israel[Meaning, they won't cooperate or partake in any research by Israeli scientists and academics].

    * Secondly, Britain released an announcement stating we should talk to "Hamas", an organization who stated numerous times that even if peace was signed between the Palestinian authority and Israel, they wouldn't accept it since the only way for the conflict to end is by "killing every Jew in the Middle East". Nice organization to support. One of Hamas's parliament members also stated in a speech that Israel is the first and later they'll conquer the rest of Europe and America:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUVxxjuK-JI

    * And now - Britain said it will establish relationship with the Hezbollah. Ironically enough, just recently, Hezbollah's leader gave a speech in which he stated, among other things, that his organization won't have any relationship/negotiations with Israel as it wishes to destroy it(Along with its inhabitants). Is this the kind of position Britain partakes in now?

Did all those brainwashing speeches in the mosques against Israel pay off? Did some kind of Muslim lobby took over Britain?

And a bit more far-fetched - Will Britain be the first country to leave the EU and join the OIC[Organization of the Islamic Conference, aka, the Islamic Union], because according to these stances, they certainly seem to be on their way there.

I'd love to hear some opinions/thoughts, especially from British folks. Do you support these stances? Do you support terror organizations? And more importantly - have you forgotten 7/7?

  • What do you think of the Israel's new government approach to the Israel-Palestinian conflict?

The current government elected in Israel is a right-wing government compromised mainly of the Likud and Yisrael Beitenu parties. Despite what the anti-Israel fanatics would like to believe, everyone in Israel, except the extreme right wing religious parties, support peace with the Palestinians. They just have a perspective on how to achieve it.

The Likud recently announced that it's not going to aspire to a PERMANENT agreement with the Palestinians at the time since there is no "peace partner" to negotiate with. Hamas won't even acknowledge Israel's right to exist and the Palestinian authority is too weak both in strength, popularity and control of territories to represent the palestinian public in a permanent agreement. Therefore, Likud and the new government will put emphasis on developing industrial and commercial zones in the Palestinian territories in the west bank to improve the economy and the well-fare of the inhabitants, as well as to strengthen the moderates among the Palestinians.

What are your thoughts of it?

  • I've finally found an unbiased news source regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What about you?

While browsing around for information, I've stumbled across a certain website a couple of times, but never paid it much attention until the last article. It was an article talking about inaccuracy in reporting the fatalities in Gaza and what suprised me was them calling the Hezbollah organization, a known terrorist organization, "Partisan forces". As I read on - I found out this website has a lot of reliable information written in a very unbiased way, as well as plenty criticism about lack of accurate or unabiased reporting in regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I guess this is going to be my new news source - "Commitee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America" or in short - CAMERA.

    http://www.camera.org/

What do you think of this website? And would you help promote it as well? It's about time there's a website which shows and corrects all the inaccuracies shown in the media nowadays regarding the middle east conflict.

  • Something which might challenge even the atheists among us?

I'd appreciate if you read all of this and tell me your thoughts.

I'm an atheist and quite a Nihilist, but still for the last couple of years, the prophecies regarding the end of the world make me doubt my own doubt.

The book "Jeremiah" from the Jewish bible speaks a lot about the destruction which will accompany the end of days. In Jeremiah 29:10, god talks to the Israelites/Jews who were exiled from Israel:

"This is what the LORD says: "When *seventy years* are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place(Israel)."

For those who lack knowledge in history - The location of the ancient kingdom of Babylon is located in modern day Iraq. Iraq received its independence on October 1932. Iraq was invaded on March 2003. On the year right after Iraq's *70th year* of independence. Spooky.

There's plenty more interesting bits, like this one, from Jeremiah 50:9 - "For I will stir up and bring against Babylon an alliance of great nations from the land of the north. They will take up their positions aginst her, and from the north she will be captured. Their arrows will be like skilled warriors who do not return empty-handed."

"Alliance of great nation from the north" - This says "NATO" all over it. Also, the part talking about how the arrows won't miss their targets(do not return empty-handed) gives an interesting relation to the smart bombs used in Iraq.

Anyways, there's plenty more prophecies which fit in a very strange way to the modern day events. One of the more interesting ones say that before the day of ressurection, there will be a war against Persia - Now modern day Iran. Which nowadays seems like a very probable event in the upcoming year or 2.

And now there's this(If you need a reliable source for this, check the forbes article - http://www.forbes.com/2008/10/26/obama-iran-ahmadi... ):

"Is Barack Obama the "promised warrior" coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?

The question has made the rounds in Iran since last month, when a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet's cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a "tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West." Commanding "the strongest army on earth," the new ruler in the West will carry "a clear sign" from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: "Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us."

In a curious coincidence Obama's first and second names--Barack Hussein--mean "the blessing of Hussein" in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means "he is with us," the magic formula in Majlisi's tradition."

    -

On top of that, we have the prophecies of the Maya about the end of the world on December 2012.

Is anyone else starting to have a feeling he shouldn't be making any long-term plans? I believe in coincidences, but this is starting to feel.. well, a bit too much. What's your opinion?

  • Fatah members are having their eyes taken out by Hamas members. Where are all the Palestinian supporters?

As usual - The world goes back to their routine while Hamas goes back to being cruel to the Palestinians. And of course no one cares, since the world media doesn't care to report it. If it's not Israel conducting a major attack, it's not worth being on international news, right?

"A Fatah official in Ramallah told the Post that at least 100 of his men had been killed or wounded as a result of the massive Hamas crackdown. Some had been brutally tortured he said"

"According to the official, at least three of the detainees had their eyes put out by their interrogators, who accused them of providing Israel with wartime information about the location of Hamas militiamen and officials."

Now there's a REAL MASSACRE. Where are all the people to cry "stop the massacre in Gaza" now? Could it be they didn't care one bit about the people and only cared about what Israel is doing?

  • For how many of these is Israel really responsible?

I'd prefer if only those who are informed of this story answer.

Probably many of you heard about the doctor's daughters being killed in Gaza. However a recent CT scan conducted on his niece who didn't die, found a marble-like ball in her head which isn't used in Israeli weaponry but is quite common in Hamas weapons(For those who don't know how it works - Many explosives contain small "balls" which fly at high speed upon explosion and penetrate the body to cause further damage), which indicates there's a good possibility the ones who shot the house were Hamas, whether on purpose or by mistake.

Hamas has quite inaccurate weapons and there have been many occurances of Hamas shooting their own people in the past by accident( http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/20... ) and on purpose ( http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1053825.html )

Which makes me wonder.. just how many of those civilian casualties are really the result of Israeli fire? What do you think?

    And do avoid hate-speech.
