did Jerry falwell teach the prosperity gospel?

I'm not really getting a solid answer from my other question So I will just make my question basic?

Was he a Prosperity teacher?

Update:

i'm sorry shsailor I already know what the moral beliefs were but I'm trying to identify any problems in his basic teachings. So was he a teacher of the prosperity gospel?

Update 2:

Sometimes there are people who don't directly promote the prosperty gospel but if you dig deep enough they do. Sometimes it's not as easily identifed in preachers that usually do other things. So I really dont know. I will research it.

Update 3:

The prosperity gospel is a lot different than what bible believing christians believe.

It's the idea that faith is not trust in God, but rather a force. According to the doctrine if you have enough faith the 'force' than you can get anything you want. That's why preachers like Benny Hinn say that it's a sin to be poor or sick. They believe the poor and sick don't have enough faith to get riches or health. It's not a faith in God but rather faith in a force that responds to the amount of faith you have. The 'force' is activated by your words. So according to the doctrine you speak your health and wealth into existance by speaking out your faith. This 'force' also has a negitive side to it. If you are negitive and speak out negitive words, you will be sick and be poor. That's why they say there's no exuse for people not to get healed.

Update 4:

That's why they ask for large donations and claim their riches are from this 'force'

Preachers and christian organizations usually ask for financial support from their supporters. It does not mean they are teaching a prosperity gospel.

But the prosperity gospel is very much based on money. They even use the reasoning that God will return your donation 10 fold based on the amount you owe. There is alot more to it than that. If you dont know what the prosperity gospel is than you really can't answer my question.

Honestly I don't know. But he did sell books, videos and other stuff on his show, but don't remember if he asked for cash donations like Benny Hinn and Pat Robertson

Yes, he did. He and Roberts were a couple of the granddaddies of the prosperity doctrine. I despise televangelists and the people who send them cash and call themselves christians have obviously never even opened and read their bibles. If they had, they'd know NOT to send those "people" any money at all. They're supposed to provide for the poor and the needy and feed the stranger and even those they hate, not some guy telling them about "seed faith money" or whatever they were calling it. I may not be a christian, but I have plenty of christian friends and that sort of behavior - the complete disregard for the thousands of bible verses about social justice, the poor and quality of life issues - makes them and all other decent christians look bad. The televangelists don't care and their "congregation" is nothing but a very large group of enablers who are somehow hoping they'll get rich by giving some rich guy with very expensive pomade in his hair plugs even more money than he already has. Disgusting.

Oh, here's a link for you. Hope you have a strong stomach. Those prosperity doctrine ministers are truly foul. http://www.inplainsite.org/html/the_prosperity_doc...

    He just spouted hate.

As Hitchens said, if they'd given the guy an enema they could have buried him in a matchbox.

Sorry. I think he did but not in the way most others do it. He sold books etc and obviously had enough money to start his own "university" so I don't know if that counts as a variant of the prosperity.
